Here is the semi tube chassis on my '27 Track T. It is built from 1 3/4", 1 1/2" and 1 1/4" done on my manual JD2 bender:

First page #14 ,lower left roadster with a Howards Cam decal, why it's none other than "Wild Willie Borsch" sporting a Howard chain drive blower set up. No wonder he unconsciously held onto the side of the body !!

  3. sure would like to know more about your bender.

  4. Here is a photo of the bar on my T.,it is bolted directly to the chassis and has the top seat belt mounts welded into it and is chromed.

It is a manual ratchet style JD Squared bender that I bought 19 years ago. I have done thousands of bends with it, and it is very easy to use. You can still buy them.

Speedjunky, I'd seriously think about some lateral bracing in the upper section, not pickin apart your ride but trust me, you don't want flex when things get all pear-shaped.

I made this for my A/SR in '67, wanting to be sure the roll bar would be over my head if I ever flipped. the head rest is barely visible, but was made from 1/4" plate.

  18. If you've ever been upside down, you damn sure want a good strong roll over protection and 5 point harness to keep you in the cage.

  19. This thread has me, once again, thinking of going toward a build with cycle fenders and a straight axle like the "street roadster" class of the 50's-60's.
I have the tube to build the bar, just haven't bent it up yet. Had to subscribe to this one...

D Rod, it's like you climbed into my head and built the car exactly how I would have. The roll bar is perfection amongst the rest. I really like how the welds were not ground down and left to be seen. Stuff like that I stress over when thinking of all the details. Great work.
