Call it a "street freak" & it'll all be good. Personally I'd prefer that designation over "g***er".

Lookin' forward to seeing more build pics.

The pic that i posted on here is how tall it going to be now. The car is being built like the old days build out of what u got because i dont have money flowing out of my pocket. ive been useing stuff thats been in the yard like the axle it was a trailer that was made out of a 36 dodge pickup front axle. the only thing that was ordered was the shackle kit from speed way that I got from my wife for chirstmas.

Found Nov '62 Hot Rod, F/G winner was Jerry Haleys famous Jimmy 6 Plymouth, the Hot Rod coverage doesn't mention the runner-up. I'm thinking the photo I am looking for is in the Car Life coverage, I will have to hunt that issue up, its here somewhere.

Just for the record, runner-up to Koffel in E/Gas was this Hudson. Is that thing bad-*** or what?

I like the idea of a different style car for a g***er build, but not sure I'd have used that old truck axle. Not because it's too light, but more because it's too narrow for the Buick. Looks like your front tires sit inboard too far, and that's exaggerated by the height. The higher the front gets, the more you want your tires out to the edge of the body. I located mine so the sidewalls are even with the front fenderwells.

Your crazy! I give you respect for being different. that's cool if your going to run a turbo on the eight. I have the same motor and was planning a turbo build on it and everyone thought I was crazy for even spinning a wrench on it. I'm boosting a six now. Good luck with that monster- McNally

Yikes! He's absolutely correct- that front axle is waaaaay too narrow, dude. Using what you have is great in theory- but thats just never gonna look right.

Yeah, that axle is a tad narrow...but reverse the centers in the wheels, that'll bring them out where they belong.

    One Phat G***er!

I had a '51 Olds Coupe in '64, right after I sold my '63 Dodge 330/426 Max Wedge...
I raised up the Olds, put '56 Buick wheels with cheater slicks on it, (deeper, looked ***s!) installed Traction Masters, and warmed the engine over...It was considerably chubbier than the pretty '50 Oldses, but it got lotsa eyeballs. (4.11 Pontiac 3rd member helped the dual range hydro blast it outa the chute...)

One thing we have in common-our garages! I built my g***er in a Costco canopy last winter!

I have a Costco canopy for "extra" storage. I bolted the frame to the front of my garage with metal straps, and put cinder blocks over the feet. Its stood up to some pretty nasty windstorms...

I'm building a '39 Olds coupe g***er. Not exactly a small coupe with a 115" wheelbase, but there won't be a whole lot of others out there like it either. Keep building.

I had to order 36" auger anchors to hold the legs down on mine. Last March I had the car out of the canopy (fortunately!) when the wind picked up and lifted the canopy up in the air, clearing a 4' fence and landing in the neighbor's backyard upside down! Absolutely no damage, and the neighbor and I just flipped it over the fence and I anchored it with the 8 anchors. Been great since then, but boy was I surprised when I walked out and it was gone the first time!

Maybe this kustom thing is getting to be a bit much. You know, to each his own, if your payin' for the build then maybe you have a say, if not you don't. It's his car, he's not building it for you. There's room in this car hobby of ours for everyone's ideas, not just yours. I like 'em all. How boring would it be if we all built the same thing. Just my opinions.
