From North New Jersey and the new owner of a 52 Chevy Carryall Suburban. I have some basic knowledge and understanding of the vehicle but I figure this is the place in case I need help. It has a later 261 with a Muncie 3 speed and Holly 2 barrel. For the most part except the aforementioned changes, the truck is stock. Ill be on the look out for people who know these trucks better than I do and who can direct me to refurb shops and the like.
Welcome Drew Join in the Social group AD Truckers as well. Great group of guys focused on the early trucks and burbs. Lots of great help there and here on the main board.
Welcome fellow Northern NJ dude. I am in Upper Saddle River and am working on a 56 Hemi project. Keep us posted on your progresss..
For the Suburbans...not so much for whatever reason. I started treseasrching them on the HAMB, and only found threads about someone trying to put a wooden plank floor in his early Suburban and stuff like that. For the stock stuff on the Suburban you just have to join here, too www.stovebolt.com ---> "FORUMS", then the 4th section down is "Panels and Burbs". Here is the page: http://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/ubb/cfrm Pretty cool - to get all the Suburban - specific knowledge and "how-to" stuff. Best spot I have come across. There are definitely some windbags, but if you sift through the people who obviously are there because they have nothing else going on, you CAN find some folks that have worked on theirs, and have some great knowledge. when you need to know how to do those complicated side window channels, etc. you can find out on there. One guy even posted on how he removed the wood floor in one piece - I think before that it was a "given" that no one could do that that way. ================= I only discovered that group because I was researching the '52 Iam buying...there are some uniques challenges and rust spots with them, that the trucks don't have. GOOD LUCK!
