Ex gas Ronda car indeed. This car was once owned by a neighbor of mine when my family and I lived in Azusa. It was Ronda's car in 66, but then in 68-69, it served as the Snodgrass and Mahnken Pyscho II funnycar. The team split up at the end of 69, and Mahnken ran the car with 427 Ford wedge and dual Holleys wherein it became the king of Bracket One at Irwindale winning three weeks out four, every month. In fact, Pat Mahnken was able to support his family on the weekly winnings since at the time there was a recession and like many, he was without work. The car was later driven by his wife who dubbed the car "Lady Bug." I dont know if she continued to run the car back east or not.

Souza Bros managed low 9's and occasional high 8's with Algon injected 427 Ford Wedge on fuel.

Gracias...thats the car. I saw him once at Irwindale. Prior to the flopper, Lerner ran a SOHC powered Corvette roadster in A/MSP class. It too was called The Paperboy. And oh, "Tom S" it was the AHRA, not the NHRA that featured the GT classes. My typo.

Thats a VERY COOL photo of Hubbert Platt sponcered by Dick Walters Ford in downtown Des Moines, Iowa at the time.

And check out Larry Sutton................of all the COOL pictures we marvel at in this post just think of the percentage of these cars he witnessed first hand, just a few feet from his feet.
