I need to ship a side shift Lasalle trans and bellhousing that I have from my house in PA. to CA. I'm looking for suggestions on shipping companies and how to package these things. Thanks in advance for any in info. Mark
You could strap it , (steel banding)to a skid . Check out Freight Quote on the web for pricing. Need total weight. Don't forget to insure it.
If you can make the weight requirements Fed Ex ground is an option, if you are over weight Fed Ex also does freight. I shipped some big things to Canada and used fed ex freight. If you box it well and don't put on the outside of the box what it is any number of shipping companies will also work. The trick is that you don't want the box to come open and you do not want the people on the freight dock to know what it is.
try contacting engineshipping.com i just shipped a few transmissions and some other parts on a pallett to texas not dirt cheap... but they seem good to deal with Zach
Fedex Freight seems to be the most consistent and with the fewest amount of problems. Quick to handle any claims also and very compe***ive on pricing. Crate or, at least strap to a good pallet or skid. Call them or access online, with weight & dims. for a quote. Good luck
Fastenal. Deliver it to your local outlet, it goes to the closest outlet in the destination city. They notify the receiver on the other end. I shipped two core bumpers for $75....the best price I had from the major transporters, including the big bus, was $125. You will save if you crate it yourself. Check with the counter guy @ Fastenal.
greyhound is easy. if you have a station at both ends thats close by. google it. they have info for there shipping on the web. i have used them 6 times , no problem.
Wow, I never knew Fastenal did any shipping. I've done the wooden crate wrapped in cardboard for Fedex in the past. Any other suggestions? Good advise so far, thanks.
I've shipped T-5's from Reno, Nv. to New York and Georgia through Greyhound with great results. Price was reasonable too.
