I'm looking for a cable that will come off the backing plates straight and follow the axle. The rear end is off a '65 Mustang and the cables currently exit at a 45 degree. If there is no other option I'll make up some sort of L bracket but I'm hoping someone out there has an idea. Its for a fenderless truck. Thanks.
If you have the bucks buy one of the disc e-brakes that bolts to the pinion yoke . No cables at the wheels.
almost any ford e-brake cable will work and I have use chevy and "ricer" cables my bad, can't read, I know of nothing that does what you want. but the pinion brake works well as suggested
I like the idea about the brake on the pinion but this is a budget build. Here is a pic if it helps. Thanks for the replys.
dont think the cables your prob here i think its the backing plate thats making em exit in that manner, my falcon diff is the same on my model a, they are angled like that for a reason, if they went straight across the axle housing they wouldnt lock em on properly, they are pulling an arm on the shoes in which is pulling the shoe into the drum and therefore making the hand brake pull hard, i havent included every facet of them but u get the idea, now say they pull on the same angle as the axle house they would be pulling the shoes toward the backing plates insead of the drums, so this angle they are on is there for more than astetic looks , its there for functionality, i understand why you want this but its a big call, just tuck em under the ch***is ,body a lttle more,at the front of the outercable (closest to the frontof car), at the end of the day , its there, everyone knows what it does and y its there, unfortunately its one of those things , like the other post say the pinion/yoke ones they do may be the only real way to eliminate the cables, but some things are sacrificed for budget, i def understand $ for $ and whats more important than other things here, hope ive helped a little A-tub
