I second the Ronnie Sandifer, Hillside Streetrods on Fibergl*** parts. This is a steel cab Willys finished last year.Gl*** frontend doors ,trunk , rear fenders. Can't tell the diference from a steel car.
I was out chasing down some leads on Willys parts and came up with this '37 4 door sedan. It was put in storage in 1972 by the original owner when he became too old to drive. It'a all original with 40K on it. Unfortunately too nice to cut up for parts for the coupe, but is going to be a great DD.
Will be looking for build pics. Hey, missing parts? You have more than I have total. I would be glad to find that much of that year Willys coupe and feel good about it You want inspiration, look for the thread about the guys who pulled cars out of a river. Now they have next to nothing to start with
Jr. I can tell from your post looking for a stock Willys and a 32 5 window that you must be planning on living forever. I admit that we must have goals to keep us going but I think that you have exceeded the limit. Good Luck
Hey: Dont forget to contact me for Willys Junk, especially now that I have a hard on for my second 57 vette project car and my barn find 32 plymouth PB 3 window.
I have found a steel front clip and steel deck lid. Still looking for doors. I have a rough steel driver's door I would like to trade, up or down, for a steel p***enger door. let me know what you have. Thanks, Noel
Bill, No goals, no pain equals no gain. I'm getting closer... and yes thanks for the Good Luck wish but I've never been one to have much good luck so I keep looking.
I'm gonna be watching this... But I think you should re-consider the hemi and replace it with "a stock Evinrude"
That movie inspired me as well. Although I wasn't fortunate enough to own a Willys, I had a chance to own the next best thing - a 39 Studebaker G***er. I have pictures of it in the album section. I miss that car more than any other I ever owned. All old school stuff.
40willys, When I was looking for body parts I bought a similar sedan although I didn't use much from it. Mine needed about the same amount of the rear body section which we used from a sedan. Here are a few pictures hopefully to provide some inspiration. I fitted and tacked on the blue section from the sedan I cut up. As you can see it worked quiet well with a little re-shaping above the body line crease above the tail lights. Later the so-so blue one was replaced with the better beige lower section (also from a sedan). It is is on my car now shown in bare metal. A local fab guy did the excellent work seen in bare metal including the trunk pan. Good luck on the build and keep us posted.
G***y, That looks great. Now if I could find one that isn't rotted to the taillights I'ld be in business.
Yeah my first one was pretty thin but made a huge improvement. The second one worked out great. Just keep looking. It will be worth it in the end.
This is the way!! I remember the movie Hot Rod got me hooked on Willys as a kid. Chased that movie for 20 yrs before I found it. Hopefully wont be the same timeframe for securing the real thing. Looking forward to your updates. I Will get a 40 Willys. Firstly a shoebox is in order.
Well as you all know, times are hard all over and Willys parts prices haven't gone down. With that said, progress is slow. I did get a steel front clip and doors from my good friend 40willyscrazy. (Thanks, Bryan!) When the weather gets a bit warmer, I'll be back to work on the coupe. The '37 is close to being my summer DD. Exhaust, driveshaft, and rear wheels and tires is all that's left to do on it. Hoping the stock flathead 4 will run out good if gas jumps to $5 a gallon.
