I too love a nicely done Kustom with a hopped up vintage power plant under the hood. I had always planned to run a hopped up 235 in my 51 Chevy, but after seeing the new heart of JeffSleds Merc, I decided to step up my game. I have a 52 Olds 303 that was destined to go in my T coupe some day, but I decided to run it in the Chevy instead. Both(the car and the engine) have a LONG WAY to go before they are remotely presentable, but looking at all the pics in this thread really get me pumped up!

Thats a great stance, similar to what im going for with my car.

Lets see some more "new old style" customs back on this thread. Theres got to be more!!

I know i know... its hard to resist skulls, radials, fake triple lake pipes, and dummy spots..

ATTENTION!!! Fake Photoshopped cover I did for shits and giggles while waiting to be picked up for a trek to Detroit. Just to prove how damn right this car is.

JB I tried to find a little earlier cover but this was all I could come up with....

Here is a 36 I Did some work on a few years ago,I fitted and installed Skirts and put a Hagen Style gas door in the L.Rr Fender, paintwork, etc. etc.,but the Hagen Door was too flimsy so I made one from stronger materials, last pic is the" before pic"

That car is so close..but so far! As JB just said. Raise the front, get bias plies, (i'd paint it a darker color) and THROW AWAY those mirrors and we might be talkin :D

Somebody should photoshop it for him to show the wonders of a period correct car.

NOTICE: Im not trying to "tell a guy what to do on his own car".. just giving friendly suggestions to help his car better fit this era we're focusing on.

Wow thats a beautiful Caddy. Any pictures of it from different angles, not all stuffed with people? haha

  21. Gorgeous Caddy,^^^^ Well speaking of this era....I took my car to the donut shop cruise this morning and I see a clean looking truck with flippers on it........only to get closer and see they are on radial whitewalls. To quote J.B. ......."so close yet so far."

Gotta consider though, most folks aren't shooting for the this era so it's no big deal to them that they missed it. If someone is shooting for it and use radials...shame on them. It visually kills everything else they did.

  23. Oh ya...I agree with you, this era is probably the smallest slice of the pie out of all old car enthusiasts.Very rare to see someome going for this era but either way.........radials just look really odd when they are on flippers. At least to me they do.It's like a gorgeous girl all dressed to kill and then you look down and she is wearing flat flipflops,it just kills the rest of the outfit.I understand stilettos aren't always the most comfortable ...well either are bias ply tires but they sure do look good.

  25. Was cleaning out some pictures tonight and found some pictures from late 1998 or early 99.Jim let me come to his house to see the merc but he made me drive my virgin merc.

Then the first shot is 2009 at the merc gathering taken by Rik,probably my favorite pic ever.
It was cool when our cars met again.

Jim is such a wonderful person. Met him first time last year when the Hirohata Merc came to Sweden for its first ever visit outside the US. Me and my friend Wolf took Wolfs -51 Mercury and met up with Jim, Gene Winfield, George B. and some others.

Here's Jim, George and Wolf. Me taking the pic.
