Most of us can think of some gold sitting out in the woods that's "inaccessable" because of terrain and the most common one, TREES! A Flatty sitting on a home made generator or pump for instance. Or maybe it's a complete car half buried in trees and trash. If you could only get to it and pull it out. Now you can!

The common Cherry picker works great on hard floors but is unusable in loose dirt or gravel. Enter the ATV Cherry Picker! You can very easily convert any picker to ATV by adding larger, pneumatic tires and wheels. The ends of the picker legs are open and ready for a smaller size square tubing to be inserted. Weld 10"-12" wheeled casters to the extensions. Secure them with bolts so they don't slide out and you have an all terraine picker capable of getting in the boonies for those tough scores.

I added a handle/tow bar so I can pull the picker behind a riding lawn mower, ATV, 100 MPH Bar Stool or 4x4 pickup.

I went a step farther and added three point hitch mounts on the picker so I can remove the picker legs and mount it on a tractor. You can rent them if you need one but they can get anywhere easily. Back it up to the vehicle and jerk the engine or whole car. On the tractor I carry a full set of tools, cutting torch's, jacks, chain saw, come-alongs, AK-47 with bananna clip. ( We have fire ants, scorpians and drug smuggling cartel members in NM!)

I still dont see how you could tow a car any better with it then just dragen it with a tractor.

Great idea for using a shop crane on "unfriendly" surfaces! I have "attached" my shop crane to a small trailer on occasion, but that has it's downside. This should work very well in a lot of unhandy places.

Thanks for posting a clever and simple to implement gizmo!

Cool. Damn good idea for working on rough asphalt or a gravel driveway, etc.

But looks like you forgot the airpump for the flat tires.

Cool idea with the tires, and you just made me realize I can use my riding mower to move cars around. Something that never even crossed my mind before. I'm always asking friends to come help me move this or that around out in the barn. I just need to make a universal tow bar ... thanks!

Neat idea! I was studying on trying to figure out some kind of boom for my tractor for just that purpose. I like the idea of using the cherry picker, you have the lift of the tractor plus the lift of the picker. Might just have to copy that!

I was thinking about something like this since I have a gravel driveway and its a BI T C H to move anything on it,I started putting "donuts" or spare tires on the cherry picker I never finished,,,this is genius tho

  20. Hey Otto, welcome to the hamb. Is that engine photoshopped under the engine hoist ?
Looks good but the chain is not tight. Just trying to convince myself that i don,t need gl***es. :D

It's not easier than just a tractor towing a car unless you want to raise part or all of the car. Also with the picker on the tractor 3 point hitch, you can back right up to a dead vehicle totally in the weeds and still be able to pull the engine. I've even reavhed the boom of the picker through a barn window to pluch an engine out.

Actually didn't forget the air pump for tires. I forgot to mention I either carry an air bottle or if I have the acetalin tanks on board, I turn the air regulator up to around 30 psi and use it for refilling tires.

Thanks for all the positive feedback!! Beats the tongue lashing I took for suggesting SLOTRODZ, a vintage rod with C-4 Corvette suspension front and rear, as the next rodding trend! lol

Not trying to hijack the post, but a couple of my buddies put donut spares on their oxy-acetalene carts. They really roll easily on gravel and rough terrain.

Pulls real good with a flat tire I bet are those HF casters?:p Whole thing is photoshopped. The cars are fake, the middle tree is fake, See that worm on the ground? FAKE!! LOL. Lippy

  27. thought about doing that too, the only thing that worries me is the capacity of the pneumatic tires...

The casters and tires are rated at 200 lb each. I used 8" and found them to be a bit small for some terraine. It handled the 331" Caddy with hydro easily. 10" or 12" would be better.
