I'm about to start welding my four link to my 69 chevy rear end for my 54 chevy. I have a 220 volt welder and was wondering if this is going to be to much heat even in the lowest setting to weld to the rear end. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, Eric

You can do a lot more welding on a rear end than most people would have you believe.

1/4 inch tubes.... You wont do too much damage. Just some food for though, look at what the off road guys do with their axles.

rear end tubes are usually pretty thick. You will be just fine.

I guess you're talking input AC voltage? Is it arc (stick) or mig or tig?
If it's stick be sure to use low hydrogen rods, and make sure to close up the ends of the brackets to prevent cracks starting there later.
Pretty thick material, but try to avoid over heating by alternating from side to side. You should be fine.
