So I put on the chucks, grab the cool old school shades hit the garage door open and hop in the rpu..crank over the motor, she's hesitant at first but then roars with the vengance only an open header can give. I look in the side mirror, the coast is clear so I back it out and take it on its maiden cruise. Everyone is in awe as my creation has been brought to life and has now laid 30 feet of scratch on the pavement in front of my house. I turn on to sunrise blvd, It's 8pm on a warm summer night and all the cars are out on the strip, the girls staring from the Krispy Kreme, the mini-truckers stop hitting their airbags at the shell station for just a moment as I race by them. about 15 minutes later I pull into poor-boyz midnight m*** car show and I am greeted with peace signs and thumbs up and some betty's blowing kisses from across the way. ***bang**bang** **the wife opens the garage door and asks what the **** I am doing sitting in the car that is in peices making the vroom vroom noise again. I hate it when I get caught.... ...so what is your dream drive story guys and gals!!!
Hah... Nice! I was wondering... when you mentioned the Bettys waving then mentioned the wife it sounded like trouble brewin'!
Papasmurf- Having exactly the same dream- hope to have my beatup ol 34 pickup together by july 30 for the poor boys midnight m***. Heard it was a great show last year. Hope to see ya there! Chopped top
I'm in complete agreement with "striper"....except add a rainstorm to the mix ! One of my "goldchainer" pals told me the Iron Duke 4-banger wouldn't perform as well as his 'gl*** '34 roadster/Hemi. So I challenged him to a race....if I get to choose the road.
I would like to have my truck driveable before the snow flies here. (Mid-to-late December) Just be able to cruise a bit. Work out all the bugs over the winter and have it reliable by my 16th birthday when I get my license.
