Found some cars yesterday that I could only see from the air. Every time I flew out of the Medford airport I could look down and see these, but when on the ground could never find them. Yesterday a buddy took me to see some cars and they were the ones I had seen from above.........enjoy.

So whats the story on them..?
letting em rot back to mother nature? or are they getting parted out, and sold?
    or going to the crusher?

  3. Some pretty cool project material there. if I were in Pheonix or even in Forset Grove I would be all about you telling me how to find that place. There are about 3 that i would like to use to ruin thwe last good years that I have on this earth. ;)

I found an old farm that had area out back, in an area surrounded by a berm that had a load of old iron, one being a '48-50 panel truck full of flathead parts including aluminum heads. I placed an ad in a local paper some years ago looking for a truck cab for my F-2 and this farmer answered my ad. He took me out back to look at the truck and I saw the other stuff he had stored there. He said his dad used to build flatheads and race them back in the '50s. I asked about the panel truck, which was closely surrounded by old farm machinery, he told me he didn't want anyone trying to remove it because of the danger of getting hurt while doing it. I've checked back with him every couple of years. He died some time ago and now his son won't let anyone on the property.

You can't see anything from the road but I know what's back there and I'm keeping an eye on the place. It's in an area that is being developed and I have a feeling the property will be up for sale sometime soon.

  8. Sam,
I went to my first 3 years of high school in oregon. One of my buddy's mom was an alcoholic. They lived on a farm and evidently had some money from some where.

She drove highend cars all the time and when she wrecked one, or just got a new one the ended up parked behind the barn. My first race engine came out of a '57 thunder bird that got wrapped around a tree. We also built a bucket T for my buddy with a tall deck 383 and torque flight for motorvation (sic).

It is not uncommon to get out around what was once a logging town in oregon today and the people are still driving cars early post war to later '60s cars.

Wow! That green convertible appears to be a a large-body´48 or ´49 Oldsmobile 98...What a cl***y piece that is! Basically the same body as the ´48 Cadillac or ´49 Buick Roadmaster.
Hopefully that one gets saved. Would surely be worth all and any work it might take to revive it. For some reason You hardly ever see any of the big-bodied Olds 98 of that era anywhere anymore.

The road must be a windy mile away if you couldn't figure out where that was from the nearest road. Either that or you fly loaded. :D

The guy is sort of on the way to White City from Medford. The reason they were hard to find is that they are behind a bunch of shops and other buildings, so you don't see them from the road. The Dodge is a 1953.

A friend of mine, who is into steam engines, went to an auction a few years back in MN that had hundreds of old steam engine tractors. He was told the deceased owner and his dad back in the '40-50s, when the new tractors were replacing the old steam ones, would fly around the country side in a small airplane mapping out all of the old steam engines they saw sitting out back on farms. They'd take a map along marking the location of every one they saw and then would go back with a truck and buy them all up. At the time most of the farmers were probably happy to get rid of the them and gave them away.

I've always wanted to do the ultra-light thing and fly low. Just worried about gettin' shot down over someone's vintage tin stash!

  28. That's very real... some folks think it's fun to take pot shots at us and a couple of fellow pilots came back with holes in the in the wings and I've seen a hole in the fuselage by the pilots head and one managed to hit the fuel tank and that was over the nice neighborhoods!

Today it's easier to take the GPS coordinates and strategically confirm a safe meeting with the owner!
