The March Meet starting the 1st ending on the 4th will be downstreamed live on bangshift.com. Never did this before so don't know any details!!! If you go to bangshift.com they might have a schedule, I have to do this myself.
Also watch out for my friends from Cordova, IL they have a yellow top fuel rail called the Cropduster, they were top qualifier last yr. Excellent rail, built by Frank Parks from Tulsa area,
I'll be there,, Leaving here tomarrow. It's only 165 miles from here..Some of my friends go to Cordova all the time... Hey 2b,, Where is Fond du Lac. ?? My in laws live in La Crosse.....
Hey ThingyM, They are straight west of me accross the state, Fond du Lac is 60 mi. north of Milwaukee, its about midway between Milwaukee & Green Bay. Have fun at the races, wish I was out there going!!!!
I watched the first day of the 2012 March Meet today on bangshift.com and it was great. For all you racers out there that live to far away to attend and a few like myself that are recovering from surgery, this free live show was great. A big thank you to the sponcers that made this possible and a great job by all on the bangshift.com crew.
I was "logged on" for several hours Thursday. The video streaming has improved greatly this year. Yes, as Tom said above, a big thankyou to Chad at www.bangshift.com for doing this. And to all the sponsors that help out financially.
Joe Roseberry ran his HA/GR in the Hot Rod class. Had a hiccup on the line and lost in the first round. He got nice comments from the announcers and they mentioned the HAMB.
I hope someone that was there corrects me if I get this wrong. I saw only one time trial. Joe had some trouble and didn't get a good run. I didn't see the e.t. In eliminations I think he dialed 12.20 but had trouble early, possibly shifting and was about a second off the pace. Joe posts here on occasion. It would be nice to get an accurate report. Your NTF Crop Duster team was outstanding winning the event. No problems on any of their time trials or elimination runs as far as I could see. Nice to show those Left Coast boys how to do it. Wouldn't it be cool if they made some exhibition runs at the Meltdown Drags?
As a coast boy I would like to give a fine thumbs up to the Crop Duster gang for a great win in T/F. To tow all the way out to the March Meet and then win the T/F class over the 2010 March Meet champion makes for a great week of racing. The final was a 5.684@248.98 to Rick White 5.699@258.67 . It don't get much better than that. This is why us locals think the March Meet is the best Nostalgia Race in the world, bar none.
The March Meet was not one of "5 cuz 6 won't fit"s best outings to say the least. I'm not totally sure what was going on but suspect driver error more than anything. I just could not get of the line without rattling the tires. I dialed in at 11.50 and shook so hard during the elimination run that I missed second gear and ended up going low to third. Our best times were 119.96 mph and 11.99.
Couldn't do that when you're running Me, could you? ..... nooooooo. Seriously Joe, they put down even more strip goo for the March Meet than for smaller ones. Could've had something to do with it.
Joe when that happens come down on the tire pressure about 3 tho 4 lbs. If you have the tire pressure at about 25 lbs and it is good bite you will get tire shake big time because there is no suspension and the car is light enough to start to hop if you have enough power. You obviously have enough power and tire pressure is critical, at Tulsa, they have good bite and I run 18.5 to 19 lbs and I have a good launch, if I go up to 25 lbs. I have the hopping blues and it feels like the car is going to shake itself appart.
Joe, thanks for the report on the March Meet. I couldn't tell on my computer screen what the problem was. Old, Jimmy Six, I'll file that good information away in case I ever make enough horsepower to create tire shake.
