O/T...Oh Crap...got hurt at work today...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by A32Flathead, Jun 26, 2005.

  1. About 45 min's before finishing work today (Sunday) I was going to put a rim & tire in a car, squatted down to grab the tire & my left knee gave way with a loud "POP" [IMG]

Fell down (funny that) and yelled for help....got iced up & taken to the local emergency room where I was seen fairly quickly (result) and the Doc tells me I have pulled a hamstring.... [IMG]

So....light duties for a few days & lots of rest....

    Update's soon...off or some pain-numbing drugs now

Dude, a pulled hamstring is waaaay easier to rehab than a blown-out knee. Consider yourself lucky and enjoy the drugs, I mean the light duties. :D

My knees used to pop out on a regular basis, one of them about every six months (my father's left one did too, though not as often). I don't know what the medical "reason" is, since I've never seen a doctor about it, but I know it's caused from working on the concrete floor for 8 to 14 hours a day for 30+ years. Once the pain stops, I just have to pop it back into the socket & a couple hours later I'm ok.
Since I quit working full time 5 years ago (due to theives), neither one has poped out. Of course, I have no home, no income to speak of, no money to work on my projects, & consider suicide every two or three weeks (it's a long story), but hey at least my knees haven't popped out! :p

    Exactly what I was thinking...

I've kept info on automatic conversions just in case...

Mebbe just a hydraulic clutch. Anyway, I'm glad I dumped my 11" clutch before it yanked my hanstring out by the roots.

Whenever I was squatting and I heard a pop when shifting to one side, it was always a miniscus (sp?) tear. Every time it happened, doc said "18 more weeks..."

  18. Went back to the doc today, did X-rays & a thorough exam, he thinks I have a 'bakers cyst' as well as the hamstring thing...now before you ask...check out http://www.jointhealing.com/pages/knee/bakers_cyst.html its faster than typing it all!!

I am off Thursday & Friday & only doing 5 hrs Sat & Sunday, as I am restricted to 15 Min's of standing per hour .... Then off Monday (4th July) and back to the Doc on Wednesday for a 3rd visit to see if its OK...

Back to the pain meds.....ask my wife what fun she has had talking to me when I'm on the ****tail of happiness :D   :D
