Howdy, I have a 327 for sale in the cl***ifieds. It's a 327 275 hp engine. It has double hump heads. I had a gentleman tell me he had an original 275 hp 327 in an Impala and it didn't have double hump 300 hp heads. I have never seen a 275 hp 327 that didn't have 1.94 double hump heads. Did some 275's have lo-po 327 heads? BTW, this is a 65 327-275. What say you old farts.
I have never seen one that didn't have the hp heads HOWEVER the markings on the end of the casting were not the "usual" "camel humps". Chevrolet did not always use the "humps" to designate a hp head. Been my experience. peace
I thought all 327'sof had humps. I do know a 327/275 hp intake is worth a tenth over a 220/283 intake on a stocker....lol how many different castings were there ?

I know almost nothing about Chevy SBCs but the 327 in my '36 Hupp had non double hump heads and was allegedly a truck engine with small 1.60 intake valves. It now sports 462 castings...
250 hp 327s had the same heads as power pack 283s. 300 hp 327s and '66-'67 275 hp 327s had the "double hump" or "fuelie" heads.
275 or more HP had double hump. Less than 275 had single hump or triangle. '68 double humps had sensor hole in side of head.
Goes back to the thing that every 327 is or was a fuelie vette motor and had 461's....lol Were low hp 520 castings?
I had a '67 327 with the double-humped heads and also harvested a couple out of '68 Chevys that were the same deal, all 4BBL engines. You can go on forever with all the "experts" on this site and elsewhere. Either the guy wants the engine or not, or was trying to make a pointless point. If you were closer to me, I'd grab the damned thing just so HE couldn't have it. Something like that is legal tender in the hot rod community. Bob
I had an original 1965 engine 327/250hp with double hump heads that I used in my 3w coupe. I have out in the shop right now a set of 1966 327/275hp heads and a set of 1967 327/275hp heads. They are all double hump with no holes in the front of the head. They are all 1.94 intake and 1.50 exhaust.
461, 462, and 291 castings all had the double hump symbol cast on the end of the head. All of the 275 and 300hp engines got 1.94/1.50 valves; you had to get into the high performance 327s--350, 360, or 375 hp--to get the same castings with 2.02/1.60 valves. Feel free to research this further; when the talk turns to vintage sbcs, the ******** seems to flow heavily.
The gentleman wasn't trying to be a smart *** or buy the engine. He was just saying his 327-275 didn't have 1.94 heads and was original. It got me to thinking maybe my memory was off. I also have a 67 300 hp 327 and it has 2-1/2 inch manifolds. Like I said I ran the suffix and it comes back a 65 327-275. Not trying to be anything I just never saw a 275 or 300 without double humpers. Lippy
im the guy in question, already pm'd lippy, and bob, if i were closer/ had the garage space, I would have it.i was 18 when i had the car in 73, we/ i knew nothing of #s back then, and didnt care.
Around here those manifolds are worth as much or more than the heads. I have seen the regular 2" manifolds at swapmeets with $200 per set price tags. I wouldn't give that but apparently some will because they sold.
Not all 327s had double hump heads, that is like saying that all big block chevys are 427s. Some had power pack heads or what we called power pack heads with the diamond on the front and power pack springs, some just had a square block on them etc. I found a site when this came up in a DZ302 thread a while back I'll see if I can find it again. It shows all the markings and the years that they were available on GM 327 heads. Here knock yourselves out. http://www.fastnuf.com/Headguide.html
