    Merritt,

I also bought some stuff from Opentracker. I already had his roller bearing spring mounts. They are a very nice unit and really help free up the front end. I just bought the kit to make a stock lower control arm a roller. Nice packaging but no directions or pictures. I am not the smartest guy in the world but I have been around awhile. I called him and he was pretty helpful but it still looks kind of like a pain in the butt.

I like the look of Kens stuff. I don't think I will even mess with what I bought?

Ken, Was your coil over kit from Total Control or also Ron Morris?

I started with the Total control Upper and Lower A Arms, Moroso 65 Mustang Drag Springs, That same Roller perch, And the Calvert 90/10 shocks. All nice stuff, worked great and no issues.Probably shouldnt of changed. Its cost more than I wanted to spend.
I just wanted to go lighter and after seeing Steves 65 NSS Comet at Bowling Green decided to change it. Wanted to try that Chrome moly rod end strut rod that He was running. I wish I couldve started this way from the start, saved some going backwards.

The Ron Morris stuff is nice, all of his adjustments are off the lower arm. Total control is off the top arm, So I guess i have the best of both worlds.
Both Companies are expensive though. Nice but pricey. Ron was more accomidating and special made those arms right away and left off all extra weight.I think the strut rod that Ron sells would travel through its motion better. I had to re angle my front mount on the total control strut rod because it binds at the bottom of travel under full seperation.Rons is a Rod joint that has no limit. [IMG]

I'll let you know how it all works out next month.

Ron does have an over the upper arm kit also , which is what you want for drag racing.

I'm not sure what to really recomend, I'm learning as I go also. I'm hoping this is it though. I still need to buy a new Helmet.

Thanks Ken. That is great information. My front wheels never left the ground until last year so I am headed in the right direction I think? i also have the Clavert front and rear shocks. Your setup just looks very clean and simple and I like that. My shock towers were cut years ago for my Cleveland and the front end is scary looking. Yet another future project.

I have had fiberglass bumpers on order from Crites since early January. That is supposed to be one of this winters projects? I have heard they can be slow.

Thanks again and your car is awesome. Brian

I built my lower arms with the same type of adjusters but used the stock front half of the arm.I had it aligned last week, the mechanic loved it,said Ford should have made them adjustable, the alignment came in quick and easy!!! The guys I use are second generation front end mechanics, same shop their fathers started WAAAAAAY back! They align the wheels for how the car will be driven, not off of some chart!!! ROY.

  15. If someone was really serious about the E-Bay 64 Comet HT in Redding Ca. It's a 1 day round trip for me with my flatbed trailer & i've got room to store covered outside. I'm in Brookings Or. 7 miles north of the Calif. stateline on the coast.

I could help for the cost of gas. Times not an issue since I'm retired & like Comet HT's.

The "twisted leaf" set up, first used by Holman Moody on Phil Bonners Falcon, was my first choice for my AWB A/FX Falcon project. But after over a year of research and chasing leads, there are no kits, pieces, or specs on how Holman Moody made them (only a few magazine article pics). Besides the Mustangs H M built they also sold the "A/FX" conversion as a kit for the DIY guys. I finally had to settle for a Hubert Platt style straight axle.....Mike

Brian, In addition to the problems of fabricating the control arms with the Opentracker kits I found my upper control arms were not in good condition. My fabricator did come up with a way to make it all work but the uppers would really have been heavy ‘til it was done. The Opentracker kits will make a very nice installation but you probably need above average fabrication skills.

I have ordered the Total Control Products upper arms and I am working on fabricated lower a-arms, the Ron Morris lower a-arm is very very nice but his stuff is pretty pricy.

I’ll post pictures when it’s together along with the weight savings. Merritt

The Total control stuff looks pretty nice. I bought new Moog lowers to modify with the Opentracker stuff and I may still give it a try?

Maybe Roy took some pictures of what he did to his lowers to make them adjustable. Anything to get rid of the shims! Brian

I used tri Y headers way back in 59 - 61. Worked OK but seemed to be more torque than horsepower. Of course in 50 years cams, heads, induction have all evolved. We picked up .08 et & 2 - 3 mph when we switched to equal length (tuned) headers in 62 (that was a huge improvement back in the day). With all that ground clearance, why not a set of 180 degree balanced fire headers. The Rocket would sound like nothing else around.

BTW have you been to the Falcon thread lately? I've posted pics of my axle install. I would welcome your input before I weld it all in just in case you find something I missed and you think I should change.....Mike

  22. I watched Roy making a pass at about 5:25pm today at Bakersfield. He ran a 10.38@128mph. They are broadcasting live on bangshift. Is Dale racing this weekend also?

This is Bart Colson's hanger and cars. Rumor has it he's close to a billionaire from his now deceased father selling 300+ Senior Care facilities some years ago. The sons are now quite well off. He also owns the Courtesy Ford-Tom McCroan tbolt.

  29. Roy ran a 10.45 @ 127 mph but unfortunately he did not have a good light. It was first round of eliminations and Roy is out. I think the announcers said he dailed in at 10.45 so that means he ran his number.
    Big wheel stand again.
