I know iv discussed this briefly with a few members in some other posts but, i was wondering if anyone out there is running T5 behind a 401 or 425 nailhead. And if they could explain some details of what they needed to do to make it happen. what bellhouseing is needed, what clutch, flywheel, does the crank need to be drilled for a pilot bushing. stuff like that. Any info anyone has to share is appreciated, thanks!
Just answered my own question, i searched befor i posted but didnt see this till after. still open to any input anyone has on this matter, and for anyone interested here is the link to the thred and info i found. http://www.transmissionadapters.com/Buick%20Bellhousing.htm http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=676810
I have no ideas on how to do it. I've never thought about pitting a 265 ftlb input torque rated transmission against an engine that puts out 450+ ftlbs. @ 2800 Rpms. Isn't that 175% of what a T5 can handle? Some guys argue that the tires will never hook, therefore the trans never experiences the torque load. Just seems silly to me.
When i say T5 i dont mean one out of like an S10 or something. i should have been more specific but was just useing it as an example, yea i wouldnt take a trans that was behind a fuel injected v6 with no balls and put it behind a big motor like that. But tremec TKOs are made to hold up to alot of abuse and Tremec makes various other transmission that are stronger than the basic T5. as i understand it richmond gear also makes some trans that take alot of punishment.
As long as you know what you mean .... A t5 is just that and not anything else, a T56 is different against, a world class is different and a tko different again, Should be fun
As i understand it from looking at Tremec, there T5 and T56 both use the same bolt pattern to bolt to a bellhouseing. But maybe im wrong. again thats why im posting this to gain information on the subject. Thanks for the condescending tone though, it really helps shed light on subjects that others are not up on.
