Normally I would yank the axles and get those drilled and be done with it, but since I have four CHROME finned brake drums all around, and the wheels are Centerline Auto Drags, I'm kind of leaning towards doing just the wheels. Is there something else I should consider that I'm now thinking about? I figure Welds have dual bolt patterns, is there any reason to doubt the Centerline could handle it too?
    Thanks.

  2. Not safe to drill the wheels.

    Drill the drums and flanges.

    What is it?

    A drilling jig??

If so, that's cool and a great tool for the box!

Bolt pattern adapters are about $75 a pair. I've used them with no ill effects for some time.

    Just sayin.

How about either adapters or different wheels? Forget drilling either wheels or axles. Cheaper to sell your wheels and get correct pattern, or use adapters.

I'd have to agree with 1971bb427 in that it's probably most cost effective to just sell the wheels and buy a different set unless you can do the work yourself.

  12. What kind of car? I can’t imagine a car with Buick brake drums that would look good with Auto Drags.

Right, lets you redrill the drum/rotor on the rig and provides accurate results.

Here is the link to the instructions of how it works.

  14. That is certainly cool and a lot less h***le then sending everything to a machine shop.

Tell me, are there any plans to make a multi-pattern jig?

I just did the front rotors on my 40. I used a wheel adapter to locate the holes and drilled right through it. Tapped the holes and put in 1/2 x 3" studs. I have a bunch of chevy wheels but no fords so problem solved. Now to sell those ford wheels.

Gotta tell you about this one:
When I first moved into my new shop, a 'veteran builder' (so they said) dropped off a '32 panel truck for some ch***is work, brake installation, etc. Beautiful black lacquer, superb bodywork.
The 'veteran' took his drums & hubs to a friend of his, to be drilled for the chrome Buick Skylark wire wheels...when he brought them back, I installed them; but I called him to show him something not quite right.
The 'machinist' friend had bored all 4 hubs & drums off center, (like .375"!!!) and the wheels went eccentric when turning...like an old Laurel & Hardy movie!
I would have laughed, but hate seeing early Ford parts criminally wasted like that.
He said there wasn't time to change them, the car show setup night was 2 days away...
he took the '32 to his shop, where a gl*** guy was attempting to roll up some .250" tempered-gl*** door windows into the .187" ridgid channels...

The front ones show thru, and from the back of the car you can see the fins on the rear. I believe they're Chevy van drums.

  18. Actually, they look about right, you've got kind of a 70s vibe going on.
