Joel Burkhart died last night of complications from cancer. Joel's 32 roadster with a Buick nailhead was a Tulsa icon. Known for his knowledge and wonderful spirit Joel's 32 roadster was what deuces looked like in the 50's. Joel was a member of The Early Rods of Tulsa. He had so many interests that it's hard to tell about all of them. He loved his wife Arcy. His other loves were hot rods, banjo playing and bluegr***. Joel was a retired engineer from American Airlines. He will be missed by all. Never heard anyone say a bad word about Joel. Surviving is his wife , a son and a daughter. Rest in peace, Joel.

I have known Joel for many years. He was a local here before Tulsa. The car he had when I first met him was a buick powered 41 Ford sedan. He pinstriped several local cars too. He later had the 32 he is most known for. I ,along with many others tried to buy the roadster after he lost interest for several years, but I am glad he kept it and enjoyed it so much in later years. I will miss him,but was good to know him. Comfort to the family, **** Carroll

Joel's wife has had Joel's body cremated. She is going to have a memorial service later this month to honor Joel's life. If you knew him and would like to attend check back on he HAMB and I will post that information. We are all still grieving over the loss of Joel. He was a very special guy and a great friend. R.I.
