Hey guys. I did some searching but I didn't find the exact anwser, sure someone has done this before. I am getting ready to stuff my 289/c4 combo into my shoebox. Basically I have a Jamco motor/trans mount kit that I got used. I have all the fabricated stuff, and the front rubber mounts, but I do not have the rubber trans mount between the trans and the fabricated cross member extension. Does anyone know if this is just a stock C4 trans mount, or if it is a special made piece by Jamco??? Thanks in advance guys. Woody
Here's what i did. I don't have jamco parts but the trans should wind up in the same spot. I used the original flatty mount, turned it 180 degrees. No holes to drill. Lines right up. Then i took the original 'U' clamp that holds the flatty trans to the mount and shortened it about 1/2 in or so so the clamp would line up to the c-4 trans mounting holes. Added a rubber islolator to sandwich in the mount and presto...done. Took about 2 hrs to figure it out and mount it. Also my power train sits lower than jamco's. My buddy is doing a 51 using jamco's kit, which has a larger tunnel than the 50 and he's opening up his tunnel as well. He's using a overdrive unit thou which is a large trans. As you can see in the pics it's a tight fit to the floor even for the tiny c-4. So i made a new hump. Easy task.
Tedley, thanks for the detailed pics! Appreciate you taking the time to post em up. Good looking build too!
