My Great Uncle gave me a 53 Ford Customline. I have been busy at his ranch in the recent months cleaning up s**** iron and other thisgs. Keep in mind he is 93 years old. The car is missing the hood, engine transmission and rearend, but is very solid. I have a Ford 9" out of a 1960 F100 Ford pickup. Is this going to be narrow enough to go under the 53? Thanks Rod

Pic's in a couple of weeks when I go and get it.

I am certain that it is to wide to fit your 53 you need to find a 9 inch out of a 57-59 ford car it is the width you need..

Thanks. I thought the F-100 rearend was narrower than the car rearends from 1960. Guesse that blows that idea out of the water. Rod

For sure, this one has 3.55 's, about right for decent cruising with a mild engine. Rod

I'd join the 52-56 Ford social group here on the HAMB, GREAT group of people and amazingly knowledgeable.

That'll depend on the trans gearing and rear tire diamter also! If you're running an overdrive, it'll be good, but if you get a Turbo350 that would put your rpms on up there at about 65 mph.

I may do that when I get ready to start the build in a year or so. I still have to finish the Model A Delivery first. Rod

Look at Ranger pickups and Explorer's as they provide excellent options.

  11. Not blown out of the water at all. Grab a tap measure, hot rods are not bolt together.
'50s cars are pretty narrow. I'll bet your truck rear is approaching 60" though but you just never know untill you throw a tape on it.
