I just purchased a 1940 Dodge 4 door Sedan, and the only thing I have is the Vin., which is on the ***le only, unable to find a tag anywhere on the rig. The question is does anyone know any other way to Id, this car? Not sure if its a D 14 or what. The engine is not original to the rig. It is a Canadian car. Thanks, I hope there are some Dodge fans out there that can tell me some stuff about this. It is in very good shape and drivable.
On the firewall, drivers side upper, should be a tag riveted on. This should give you the info, stamped in, even if you cant read the rest. If that's missing, there are only two models, one with more trim and options.
The serial number should be on the right front door post between the hinges. These guys should be able to help nail down the model #'s...... http://www.merc583.addr.com/mopar/framesets/welcomeframeset.html edit: I'm a little slow on the keyboard this morning!
If it has the flathead six, the engine # is stamped in the block, on the left side, near the front, up high just below the head. Engine # should start D14. Serial # on right front door pillar should start D14 or D17. There could be a number stamped on the frame if it is not rusted to oblivion. Either behind the left front wheel or behind the left rear wheel.
Thanks, I did finally find the tag on firewall. painted over, looks to be the vin. It is Canadian. Pretty sure its a Deluxe 14, nothing on pillors. Thanks all....
