I just saw a pic of your ride on the dirtyest devil thread and at first thought it was a new lost and found custom. your work is amazing!

I hate how that works! You take a couple day break from working on your own stuff to do customer stuff, or honey do type stuff, and next thing you know a month has gone by! Or two!

Very cool build, like it alot. I read some chatter about the hood trim. I work with brass to make hand rails for stairs, it is a really easy material to use. A bit of heat works wonders, not too much tho, and it can be silver soldered if you need to attach anything like a threaded stud, polished and then chromed. If you are going to do that gorgeous art-deco grill, I would recommend brass, solid strips tho, not sheet.

Great Thread. Wonderful work on the 36. I just finished a similar treatment on a 35. I went with wood though.

There are never enough EARLY styled customs in the world. Really looking forward to this, I love it. Don't stop now!

  8. Small update, some metal finishing and fitted and formed a quarter round moulding around the top....

I love this car! Great work!, don't know how I missed this thread. The new Street Rodder mag has a drawing of 36 that was inspired by the So Cal plating spl., check it out I think you'll like it.

Mine's kind of the hot rod hooligan cousin to Lynn's more elegantly styled custom version.

    Oh.
And Lynn's is real. There IS that....

I've been wondering for years why no one has done this before. Good luck with the
project and thank you for keeping us posted.

    Happy Trails, Mick

As you are not making an exact clone why not use the stock style front end you have on it, looks perfect as is to me.

Damn Jeem... Saw that illustration in Street Rodder this month and though of Lynn's right away! I have to say, I think I like it better than the original trucklet! The only thing I ever found awkward on the original was the stretch they did to accomodate bumpers and such during it's delivery duties. I was real happy to see you NOT stretch yours Lynn. I also love the front sheet metal on Jeem's drawing. looks allot like '38 standard stuff... One of my favorites! Is that the proposed route for the front end Lynn?

Okay, so now you have my full and undivided attention. The So Cal Plating car has long been one of those admired customs from back in the day. So glad to hear someone is building on that image.

  29. I'm taking a break from this car now to finish up a '29 roadster pickup I started in 2009. I'll get back to it later this year...

  30. Don't keep us waiting tooooooo long......
