Paint isn't going to hide bad work.....bright, light or flat colors will make it less obvious, but you will still see every flaw and it will be a 20m.p.h. car it's early enough in the year to go over the work and re-shoot the car before the nice weather hits........sanding blocks, 180,220,320....guide coats......it will be well worth the effort if the engine wasn't running right would you put chrome valve covers on it and live with the misfires? just my opinion
My brother had a 63 chevy--With help from my younger brother they sprayed it with Imron---Metallic Blue--Got it home in the drive-way and was picking it apart-- a little wave-- some dust--when my 8 year old nephew rode by with his handle-bars raking the whole side !!!! Of course no hand-grips !!!! That paint was shining on the old Chevy for over 20 years !!! My Great Uncle used to say " DON'T LOOK AT YOUR MISTAKES----LOOK AT WHAT YOU GOT DONE"
Once it makes it to this point, where it's bothering you . . it isn't going to go away. IMO, you have to do it better now. If it didn't bother you, you would be here asking. . . my insight to human nature.
OK... do you have to do everything perfect or die trying? I hope not. I hope I can make mistakes, make a fool of myself and survive. If you want to redo the paint fine, go for it. If you don't you don't have to commit suicide. It's only rock and roll but I like it.
thanks for all the info and opinions. have made a decision. going to to flake it. if i take time to make the body better and repaint. i will be happier i am sure. if i screw that up with a bad flake job i will be very very sad. so right now, i can only make what i have better. i think. anyhow if i make it worse o-well. thanks again, gene
