6-8 deuces: let's see your 6x2, 8x2 setups!?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Goober, Jun 29, 2005.

  1. At one time, a mill with 6 deuces was the cat's *** and likely only seen on a drag car. As for 8 deuces, that was pretty much exclusive to the hemi guys. 6x2 or 8x2, they're visually stunning and each is unique. Let's see what you got -- or what you like -- up close and personal. Ready to explore the diverse world of different carbs (97's, 94's, etc.), air cleaners or stacks, fuel logs or blocks, straight or progressive linkage, log manifolds, etc. V8, straight 8, or I6 welcome. Have at it.

P.S. Even be cool to see some detail on the Munster Koach 10x2 setup.

It's not mounted, but here is my intake I got from Tuck for my Olds 303. The box has carbs in it. The Toxic Avenger looks on approvingly.

Don't have any really close-ups. Yes they were all functional - I used two Hot Rod Carburation three deuce kits, and fabbed my own linkage. Never did get them dialed in for slower operation, but they sounded awesome when you opened them all up.

8x2's are exclusive to the hemi guys? where you been !?!?!?!?
PPE has had that on there for years.

  7. Huh? I said in the past tense, "As for 8 deuces, that was pretty much exclusive to the hemi guys."

I guess I' ve been under a rock, because I have no idea what your "PPE has had that on there for years" reference means. Please clue me in. -->>edit: why didn't ya say Purple People Eater? OK, I f'd up and didn't include mention of the 8 deuce manifolds that go on top 6-71 blowers.

  10. Love that caliope look! Pretty innovative use of carb spacers and stacks. And, really wasn't aware of 8x2 manifolds for Lincolns, but considering the displacement ...

  13. :) Thanks for posting one of my personal favorites: Ted Kramer from St. Louis. In fact, that car inspired me to buy an Offy 6x2 manifold from ***us and a few more carbs from Uncle Scooby. What a cool Y-block powered drag car -- later with Hilborn injection and outrageous bell-tipped zoomies!

Here is a pic of my set up, before I decided to strip the block and grind it smooth (almost ready for a nice gloss paint).

Hey great thread. Hemi's werent the only ones that had 8x2. MEL 383,410, and 430 had 8x2 available from Crower (u-fab) and weiand dragstar. Also you could get a blower base like the one on the PPE. Ive got a Crower U-Fab on my lincoln.
Heres an old pic before we got carbs for it.
