besides the bad Idea they had on the stock shocks, the suspension on these Mopars was really ahead of its time. Fatmans has a dropped upright that will lower the spindle 3 ". Rustyhope has a disc brake kit that is reasonable. The rearend can be swapped out with a unit from a 60 to 70s Mopar. the springs will have to be relocated.
Somepeople do sub-frame with dakodas or the volare or others but I think that its a whole lot more trouble than its worth.
    Hope that this helps you.

    What He Said ^

Rebuild the stock front suspension, throw on the disc brakes and relocate the upper shock mount to the frame and you will have a good ride/drive with little effort and little cash outlay.

I am on my second 48 Plymouth Coupe which until recently was my daily and this is exactly what I have done minus the shock relocation just because I haven't gotten around to it yet. My first one I had subframed and can tell you that the difference (even withouth the shock relocation) was not enough to justify the time or money spent to do the subframe. If you think about, if you go the subframe route you will still (or at least should) be rebuilding the front suspension and brakes once you have the subframe in place.

Also check in over at the P15-D24 forum which is geared directly to the 46 - early 49 Plymouth and Dodges. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/index.php?referrerid=1152

The 42-48 Plymouths have a very good suspension which is easily updated to disc brakes and for best operation relocate the upper shock mount to the frame. Get a shop manual and adjust the steering per the factory method and your gift is good steering too.

Yep every body hit the nail on the head! I love the stock suspension on these cars...but if you do ditch yours I'll be first in line for your stock coil springs!

Ditto on the dropped spindles, otherwise be glad you can spend your $$ on something else other than front suspension.
