Has landed Feature Car status in the March Edition of Hot Rod Deluxe......I can't believe it took so long! This car has been so overlooked until now...Drink it in.........Congratulations Dave!
Funny, ordinarily I'm not a big fan of shrouded lakers, bubble skirts, skinny whites, or '57s in general, but in this case I wouldn't change a damn thing! I've thought this car was a flatout looker since the first time I ever laid eyes on it quite some time ago! Sometimes a car comes along and just trashes all of a guys preconceived notions of what's cool & gets away with it! ...I might add, I think it's one of the Alexander brothers better efforts.
Awesome car and story. If anyone knows the owner, ask him how long it took to clean after driving in the snow and slush. He must be a real gamer.
Congrats Dave! Great article. Love the car and it ranks as one of my all time favorites. Will you ship it down to me for my birthday? Rats, didn't think so. LOL I took your recommendation, by the way, and am starting slow on my chrome addiction....only a small box is leaving to the platers this week.
Beautiful car. It has been said a billion times but it is true that their are not near enough tri-five customs.
I'm sure that I read an article or a story about this car in the last couple of years. Maybe I just dreamed about it. The "A" Brothers cars will do that to you.
The first time I saw Dave's car in a magazine was in Rodding & Restyling around 1959 and it looked as good then as it does today. Dave is really a great guy and a survivor(cancer). Always pleasant to talk to at a show and he does drive that car. Congrats on the feature Dave and we'll see you around this summer.
This is a car right out of my youth in Detroit. Two names need mentioning here. Paul Hatton did the striping and the legendary Jimmy Jones built the skirts. I had an exact pair on my new Chevy 210 hardtop in 1956. Thanks for the memories.
Thanks. Lots of little things only the trained Tri-5er's could see. Killer. Wished I had the balls to make big changes like that. I'll be watching the Mag rack.
Thats awesome, this car is way under rated. It's sacrilegious to go against the A bro's but I've never been a fan of skirts on a tri five, other than that this car is perfect. (IMO)
Thanks to all of you that responded to this post, especially those of you who took the time to remember the times from the past. It really was a different era, and I am so glad that I was a part of it.
I remember seeing this car in a magazine, probably 50 years ago, and I thought it was the coolest custom then. You know what... it still is. I love this 57.
Honestly,... The quality of this car and the story,... It actually belongs in Rodders Journal. (on a regular basis)
I was thrilled to see the story on Dave's Chevy in Hot Rod DeLuxe, a great car, awesome story and a really good magazine! A winning combo fer sure!
