Do a search. This topic seem to come up every other week.

It depends how hight your engine sits. A generator mounted fan froma 36 works for me.

Guess I only get on here every other week. I mounted my flatty low in the original 29 frame with no way I know of to mount a fan with out hitting the crossmember. I plan to mount a pully and jack shaft to move the fan forward. Now all I have to do is do it.

  5. I used a 1939 generator with cooling fan mounted on the front. This is a very typical fan set up on an AV8 based upon stock A rails. This system all fits under the hood. I trimmed probably 3/4" off my fan blades to clear the top coolant tubes.

I made a bracket/idler for the front of my intake from a chunk of angle and an old three brush generator. I finally ended up with a real clean single groove pulley and five blade riveted fan but I don't have a clue what vintage flathead they are from- maybe truck? I just mixed and matched pieces til I came up with something that cleared the radiator by about an inch. Didn't even have to trim the blades.
