That isn't a shining example of over-machined billet?

Looking for something to put in my non-HAMBable truck, but I want something cl***y like a 4 spoke or '40 Ford that I can get to fit on a '72 Ford truck steering column.

    Thanks.

Make your own.... get a sheet of 1/8" steel (or SS)cut it out, form a dish into it, attach wood/plastic to the outside

  4. Will that work?

LOL. Sorry guys, I typed this one out this morning before going on a long field trip here.

I'm not looking for something like Grant makes. I like the Limeworks wheels that mode.A.Keith posted. I'll have to do some research on those.

    I'll keep looking.

Most steering wheels are made with a steel frame, and plastic molded for the rim. You can weld whatever spokes you want to the hub piece, and make a rim for it, but I don't know how to make the rim part look nice and plasticy.

I have an old Superior 500 wheel on my 55, it was in my collection of steering wheels that people give to me or I take off of cars, I don't remember it's history, but it didn't cost me nothin. You can find them on ebay too. It would look like a typical 70s addition to a late model (at the time) truck.

  12. I sorta like the vintage look of a 59 Impala, they repop them now in 15 inches, but I dont think it would look really nice on a truck.

i haven't done it yet,but i plan on cutting the spline section out of the hud wheel & drilling the splines out of the new wheel to maybe an inch or so & turning the old section down to make a plug & welding it in place or making it an adapter to fit the new wheel from behind,

Not inepensive by a long shot but they will build you a wheel that has a nice no billet look to it. http://con2r.com/steering-wheels/

I talked to them at the Portland Roadster show at length a couple of years ago and although the wheels are rather spendy for most guys you end up with a one off wheel that looks exactly the way you want it to.
