Ha! I was just looking at my models the other day...I also have a large collection...started again in 1976 when a customer asked what his '32 roadster could look like. Drew him a 3/4 sketch on the blackboard, but he had no perspective. Drew him a detailed isometric: still looked like 'lines', he said.
On the way home, I stopped in at D&J hobbies (Campbell, CA; BIG hobby shop!)
    I bought a Monogram '32 Roadster, 1/24 scale.
Fenders were molded to the frame, had to cut them and running boards off with a jewelers saw. Thickened up the frame rails with some thin plexiglass, then did him up a '32 Highboy with the wheels and some bashed tires out of a '53 F100 kit.

When the guy stopped by the next Friday, he jumped for joy. Wrote me a check to get started, and when I finished the big one...he asked for the little one! I gave it to him.

I have a Big Deuce Roadster (1/8 scale with the flathead) I can do for the contest...

ANYONE with this 1/8 scale cast-in-black '32 roadster, attention!
Go to your chrome package, look at the top of the 'tree' where the windshield frame is, and the '36 chrome rear wishbones below it. Most of those windshield frames were WARPED, and the wishbones as well!
If you find this, go to Revell-Monogram.com, follow the instructions: I think the complaint must be in writing, but it's only an envelope and a stamp. Free of charge, they will replace anything defective. Do it now, as it took 10 days to get mine last year.

Thanks Mark! The 1/8 scale was much easier to drill than the full scale! :D

  4. I was looking at using the wheels and tires from the new 53 Hudson Hornet kit......... That is until I got to the hobby shop $56-. Picked up the Monogram Kurtis Kraft Racer to use for parts instead, that sucker was still $30- These prices over here are getting crazy!
And I'm becoming a whining pain in the arse!:D

    Doc.

  5. i got started on mine ill post a teaser pic or two soon

i just finished up a 78 modeled in black big duece tonight that i won off ebay a few years ago its windshield frame was fine

  6. PS: If anyone is interested I am happy to build you a chassis in 1/24-25 scale or larger. No charge for the small ones, just 'pass it forward' and do something for someone else.
If you want a larger scale I may have to charge for parts, as you can see prices here are getting on the high side!! Will build to your specs, plans or to what I already have.:D
(I would be happy to get some more plans!! I only have three)
Oh yeah, they may take a while.... like a few weeks to get done so don't expect it in a few days!!

    Doc.

Hey guys, Here's my contribution, Rolling bones style 3 window, pinched frame rails, mild channel, 6" scale chop. I'm really excited about this build! It will need a hood stretch, and Probably a Hilborn injected SBC, with ram horns.

I done got's me some teasers for yon Hockey A** Message Boarders...

These are likely not the wheels nor tires I'll be using for this, just wanted to mock the car up.
It' is tough to tell but the white areas on the flathead and body are pearl white.

Lots still to do so I'd best git t' gittin', y'all!!!

I never realized that was a 1:1 car. Interesting. Thanks!

  20. That is looking very nice! I understand the frustration with photographing models and how the color's show up!! (Or don't). Did a slot car 32 Dragster (Little O/T) but the paint came out better than I could have ever imagined I could do, almost looks flat in photos!!
Believe it or not this won best in show a few years back in an Australia wide comp!

What are those tire's from? Or are they aftermarket?

    Doc.

They look like the tires from the Revell 31 Ford Model A sedan kit. Cool kit, TONS of cool parts for kit-bashing.

  22. Thanks Doc. The slot Roadster looks like a show winner bout for one detail...
seems you put the steering wheel on the wrong side, mate ... ( ;D )

The tires are from my beautifully incomplete Revell, '29 Roadster Pick-up build. It has an early 60's influence as well. I need to order some of those vintage slicks and either find a set of chrome steel rims or try the Alclad II chrome lacquer over black lacquer airbush treatment. I'd like to use the ones from an AMT '58 Impala but I cant find the set I have....

Here's the RPU in it's crudeness:

The latest 1/8 scale Revell deuce kit has that same decal of the devil... Only "BIGGER" .... To go on the trunk lid... Or use it on a scratch built grill cover... :D

I have a Revell '32 that I am about to start but I just can't decide on how to build it. Maybe I'll just get a bunch of pics together, close my eyes, and pick one! Here is one that I built about a year ago:
