Customs Automatic in a '55/'56 Ford

I am sick and tired of having a shifter on the floor and three peddles in a kustom. I want to be able to have a girl by my side.

I have a 1956 Ford Customline (Four Door) with a 272 Y-Block backed by a T-5 from a 1993 Ford Mustang GT.

Anyways I have the chance of owning a stock 1956 Lincoln Premier automatic transmission. What would I have to do to make this work. My friend donating the transmission has everything... But what else do I need to ask for?

Would this be a good option? I do an absurd amount of driving in my car and want an automatic. Is this a good rout?

I don't have the money for anything else so don't recommend any other transmision that would cost me a bunch of money.

My quesion is will trans bolt to your exsisting motor? Your selling a Lincoln motor? Why not put this combination in your ford? My $.02

 

Don't think ****** will bolt up to the Y block.

 

The engine is my friends not mine! If I had the money I would buy that motor though. It has WAY more than what he is asking invested in it. It's brand new!

Are all Y-Blocks different? The ****** was originally bolted up to a 368 Lincoln Y-Block. Are they different?

Yeah the Y block and Lincoln Y block bolt patterns be different I do believe.

LOTS of long distance highway driving? Plump for an AOD. Otherwise a C6 is good bang for ya buck. There's always the Fordomatic option but they sap a lot of power.

Oh, and if I had the spare cash I'd buy that 368 and slap it in my 54 so fast it'd make my head spin.
