Google 8 inch Ford you will get a bunch of vendors. The bay has a pile of listing also.

  4. Set up a Jegs ring and pinion yesterday, wasn't marked with the pinion depth. No luck with the Jegs phone monkeys.
    Buyer beware

  5. I got a friend that swears by Jegs but I am partial to another catalog speed shop.

No one has mentioned Summit Racing so I'll through that one into the fray. I'd say you can mention me when you call but that and a couple of bucks would get you coffee at the local diner. :D

Good luck. I just went through the cost estimation for an 8".....About $1400 to have a limited slip and gear change built. You can save a couple hundred by doing the build your self.
I went the 8.8" route, 3.55's and limited slip for $200 plus the new drive shaft and spring hangers etcetera

8 inch stuff is definitely more expensive, but available. I have an 8 inch in my OT 66 Mustang and had some difficulty even 4-5 years ago getting posi parts/ring pinion, bearings etc. The local drivetrain store can get everything needed, but they generally have to order, but I know its available, just not stocked like 9 inch stuff. When I took the Mustang to Bonneville on 09, I destroyed a pinion bearing because the pinion nut/crush washer was over torqued and was worried that the only
Auto Parts store in Wendover could not get a replacement. I called my local drive train people to get the correct bearing number and the Wendover guys got it overnight from Salt Lake City. Repaired it overnight on the "Save the Salt" blue tarp.

We sell new 8 inch ring and pinions and new Auburn posi units.

    Gears are not bad but
as stated, the posi units are not cheap.

More like almost 2 years ago. :p

I feel good about how much I spent on my 8inch. I got the whole housing with brakes, a rebuilt center section with an almost new ring and pinion and auburn posi for $800 setup.
