Hi all, your advise is required please. I'm upgrading to Buick drums, F2 Bendix brakes and F1 hubs on 42-48 car spindles. I have the conversion bearings and seal numbers that are usually recommended but these seals (Vic 49195, Nat 450461, CR 15214) all have a 1-1/2" bore but the 42-48 spindles have a 1-9/16" seal diameter. Is this the normal and the seals are stretched on? I've also considered fitting sleeves to use the original 1-3/4" bore F1 seals (CR17599). Looking forward to your replies, thanks GB.
Try here. Might be some helpful info in there somewhere. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=166339&highlight=ford+to+buick+drums
Thanks for your reply, I have thoroughly read through all of the tech postings on fitting Buicks and F2 brakes on here. They all suggest a CR15214 seal or an equivalent # but all of these seals have a 1-1/2" bore but the spindle has a 1-9/16" diameter. If that is what is the normal then so be it, I thought I may have missed something along the way. Regards, GB.
