  1. Looks like old parts cut up into an extreme style of vehicle.
Obviously it runs and he drives it. I thought we were here for TRADITIONAL HOT RODS AND CUSTOMS???

I built one in the early-1990s: Lindbergh '34 Ford cab, Monogram Deuce roadster trunk, flathead, '40 Ford steel wheels and whitewalls, and a vintage speed-shop logo lettered on the door. All in 1/24.5 scale. It even had patina (i.e. bad paint applied by an 11-year-old). I called it Bud Crayne's coupe.

I'm so hip I burned my mouth on the pizza, because I got into it before it was cool.

Ahhh George....do you really wanna go there? Arguing with you would be tantamount to me fighting a one armed man, it just wouldn't be fair...

"Truckster"? What's the "ster" part mean? Abbreviation of "roadster"? These all have roofs though... Or is like "hipster"?

I think Rudy made something look good that was previously overlooked as viable fenderless hot rod material. But we don't all have the midas touch with proportions. I still have a '35 Ford cab that's been following me around for 30 years... it may get its turn someday-

I was just looking at a '38 Ford truck thingy that totally sucked. Somebody loves it though, too bad it's not invisible to the rest of us!

Ok, here we go. Now I like both of these trucks. A LOT. One is traditional, one is neo-traditional.

Traditional. Hes painting it black, so this is un-finished.

Neo-traditional. REALLY hope he follows through and puts the fenders on this, it will really give it a unique look. And YES, I REALLY like this truck.

Hope the original posters dont mind me borrowing thier photos for this little demonstration. Just because I or someone else says a car is not traditional, that does not ALWAYS mean we hate it, or think it is some half-assed, slung together, hunk of hillbilly horseshit. What it means is, ITS NOT TRADITIONAL. This is not ROCKET SCIENCE. Pretty easy really. If you dig through every back issue of every magazine that you own that is more than 45 years old, and you dont see ANYTHING that looks like what you are looking at, then FUCKIN" DUH...Its probably not traditional.
I dont care HOW many of them you find in your 5-10 year old back issues of PBR digest, Rolled Cuffs journal, Not Rod, or Rat Rod Shitbox Monthly, that STILL doesnt make it traditional. Pretty simple when you cut all the self justification, whining and bullshit, isnt it? Just consider this post a public service.

Just call it a hot rod. Hot rod spans all times and generations, no matter how it's built. Hell, even John Force calls his funny car a hot rod and they didn't have those way back then. It could be traditional, traditionaly styled, or just a plain ole hot rod. Built for a purpose, to enhance performance and looks by adding or subtracting whatever doesn't look like a hot rod.
What does a hot rod look like? It looks like what you think a hot rod should look like. Plain and simple. What one likes, another doesn't, but that doesn't mean either are right or wrong. People get too carried away with their ideas of what is right and what is wrong. Everybody has their favorites. Nothing wrong with that. If we all built the same thing, sooner or later all of them would look just like the new stuff. Bellybuttons. And we'd be wishing for something different!

Seriously though, I would have to say some of them would have to be considered traditional.
Clearly there were some of them around back then and, popular or not.... they were around in limited numbers. Blame the magazine editors for embracing the ridiculous builds that keep showing up in mass. (BTW Mine probably falls somewhere in between)

Neo-Traditional works. We use it in the Tattoo Industry to describe traditional type tattoos with a spin whether it's the subject material or perhaps a spin on the style.

Traditional Americana tattoo would be a GYPSY. Neo Traditional Americana Tattoo would be a Gypsy Zombie but it would still have the same flavor and pay homage to the originals.
