49-54 Chev, hubs and drums onto a 40-48 Chev car

    can you bolt on, or close to it, 49 - 54 Chev car, hubs and drums onto the 40-48 Chev car, to get 5 bolt wheels on.???? thanks, Lloyd

    As I remember 1937 to 1954 Chevy Front Suspension Crossmembers are interchangeable. Early Corvettes used the same suspension/drum brakes.

    Check the Hollander Guide at your local bone-yard. It has all the interchanges.

    If you just want 5 lug wheels, you can use the 49/50 drums with your brakes. If you want to update your brakes use the 51 and later Bendix brakes on your spindles.
