I want to bag my '66 Imp I just bought but it needs to be on the cheap. i figure I can make the cups for the bags to bolt to and lines would be easy, but were would i get a good(Firestones??)set of bags and the 8 switches from? Is there a place on the web I could order them from? Any help would be great. Thanks. -Jesse
Check out www.candospecialties.com Talk to Steve, he's in Oroville, CA. He's alot closer to you. Tell him Steve at Hardkore Kustoms told you to call.
Shop around for parts. I recently just bagged a 59 chevy wagon and got my parts from two places. I got the tank, compressor, and gauges from suicidedoors.com for $246. I then went to http://store.gaugemagazine.com/ and got my 4 bags and pressure switch for $275. I got the valves from a local Parker store for $150 bucks. I also got all the fittings and airline at the parker store. After everything we had around $850 bucks in a whole setup. I know that is more than some people advertise kits for but everythin I got was top notch. A lot of those kits come with a cheaper compressor and manual valves. It all really depends on how much you want to spend and the quality of the parts. If you got more questions pm me
Jason is bad ass! He started with nothing, but an S-10 and wanting to trick it out. So he got his start as a hard core minitrucker. From his website "I first started this site to have just a simple how to on suicide doors and misc. modifications to mini trucks, but after some thought I decided to sell some of the pieces that I make for my friends and myself for our never ending pavement scrapers. I started looking through some adds to check pricing on step notches and airbag brackets just to see what they were selling for and it kind of shocked me a little bit. I thought to myself, "I can make that stuff and sell it for a lot less than they are, and keep dolla's in my fellow mini truck peoples pockets, plus show a how to install on every thing I sell". Fast food and alcohol ain't getting any cheaper! Right?!" Hes not big corporation! I have bought numerable items from him and his bracket work is freaking perfect. I don't think I could pimp his stuff anymore and not actually work for him, lol.
fellow HAMBer MASS BUTCHER (Keith) can get it for you too I beleive. www.outlawparts.com or call him 978-343-8900- they are always reasonable and can drop ship roght to your door.
Hmmm are you saying the pocket bike guys in SF do Air-Ride... Oh you got the link worng.. Hmmmm.... The correct link is here.
i went with suicide doors. quick and cheap. no complaints. you will need to purchase fittings also as they are not mentioned in there kits, but they do have them. they sell quality parts from what ive seen and heard.

I've also gotta support Jason @ suicidedoors. Excellent service, quick shipping, high quality fab work, and cheap prices. Though most of his business is from minitruckers, he is more then happy to build 4-links, individual link bars, anything to your specs, for cheaper then you can make it. Give him a try, I am sure you'll be happy
I was thinkin FBI because they're local and I know Jay pretty good but they build the custom 4 link kind and all I need is bags and valves. So suicidedoors is the way to go, what brand of bags is the best? -Jesse
Well its not likely that you'll be running 300psi and hopping, so honestly good old firestones are hard to beat. They are reasonable, and hold up fine. As for valves, there are tons of valves available. Again, many of the more expensive valves a re designed for high pressure applications where speed of lift is the goal. For a daily driver, 3/8" SMC Valves hold up great, and are plenty fast, but not too fast that when you try to adjust the car down an inch it slams to the ground. They are about $30.00 each.(you'll need 8 for independant 4-corner adjustment). If you want to slow down the dumps, you can screw a pipe plug into the "out" side of the dump valve, and drill a small(3/16" or so) hole in it and dump it. If you want it a little faster, drill bigger holes til its where you want it. Or for $9.95 you can buy adjustable flow controls with a twist-knob adjustment, and dial it in easily. Plus if you want to change it once in a while, just adjust them accordingly. The front will dump WAY faster then the rear, because of engine weight. Witht the flow controls you can set it so the car dumps evenly front & back. You'll need one for each dump valve(4 total). Hope this helps
Slams are good bags too. They make three different lines of bags:RS, ES, & HS. The ES & HS are high pressure application, up to 300psi, for guys hopping or just running a quick nitrogen set-up. No advatage to using these in a normal psi 12V compressor type of set-up. The RS are similiar to the Firestones. They make the same basic styles as the firestones, and are rated to 180psi. More then enough for a normal application, and ride fine. I hope this helps a bit.
I talked to a guy today who said most of the cars (40's and 50's) styled cars should run the 200 lb rated bags because of thier weight. 180 lb. is middle rated.... Say, for my 41 Plymouth coupe (see avitar)...what is a simple, cheap way to go. I want 4 bags, 4 solenoids...line, tank, compressor and a few switches. The gentleman who I talked to...for a simple setup was going to run me $1200. WOW What is considered a simple setup...just for up...and down. ???
I had good dealings with Jimmer (a sales rep) at StreetBeatCustoms.com. Ordered some of the RS series Slam Specialties bags to replace the "2600" Firestones, since they supposedly don't expand like the Firestones when inflated (important to me due to exhaust clearance issues), and have a higher load capacity for a given diameter. Have only put a 100 or so miles on the car since the switch (did the rear only) and can't really tell a difference in the ride.
