They look great Mikey! Someone's gonna get sued when they get impaled in the grocery store parking lot!

How are you guys going to treat the stepped area where the lenses attach? You know what might look cool? Weld a couple'a tiny L shaped tabs with some threaded holes at each end of the housing with a couple more L shaped tabs, top and bottom with NO holes to stabilize a perforated steel sheet insert in the housing, maybe stepped in a half an inch or so (an inch in, out at the pointy end), ditch the collars on the lenses and attach the perforated steel sheet with form fitting ellipses cut in to allow the lenses to poke through, oh yeah, then chrome the insert. Or, just paint it and forget it...

The 59-60 might be the rear ends that are totally interchangable. As long as the spline count is the same and you can keep the correct yoke the front of it, they should all work. I dont know how long olds utilized that unit but it was certainly longer than 2 years. Take the ford 9 for instance, made from 1957 into the 80's and they were all interchangable. Seems like GM cars went to the corporate rearend in 65 on the big cars,(at least thats when chevrolet did), and the intermediate 64's got the corporate 10 bolt. So based on that I would ***ume olds used their own rear end until they went with the generic unit.

Having taken the seminar in grad art school about Artist and art owner responsibility concerning injury liability from "works of art" I'm afraid this scenario is quite possily real. And even if you don't give a **** about being sued, the parents of the 3 year old toddler who toddles into and pokes an eye out on one of them skewers is going to care... and may be of the Screw the guvment, I'm gonna shoot the ******* owner of this POS car" type.

    BESIDES THAT;
From a purely æsthetic view, I find the point rather pointless, other than to be real " spiked collar and chains, PUNK" "I'm making a statement," just like all the rest of the statements...Holy ball skewers, Batman!

It would look way better if you now lopped off about 1/2" or so of the tip and contoured the rest of it into the same radius as the tip of that bumper just below it.
That way there will be some continuity of shapes back there that the factory didn't even pull off.

**** YOU! and most of all, Dr. know it all, **** YOU!!! i've seen worse, safety wise, at every show i've ever attended and i don't think this will be a problem. and as far as style goes, for someone who supposedly is SOOOO educated and went to "art school" you sure have lousy ****in taste. for example: that piece of **** truck you own. even Truckin Magazine put it on their "Hall Of Shame" page a month or two ago. get a fucikn clue you know it all piece of ****. you and your NISTA Natzi friend can kiss BOTH sides of my ***. stop being a couple of buzz kills and get a ****in hoby that does'nt involve being a pain in my ***, or anyone elses either. if i gave a **** about your opinion i would have asked it BEFORE i started any work. GO TO HELL!!!!

JEEM my supremely talented friend and person whos opinion i actually care about. have i ever mentioned to you before how much we seem to think alike?? :D ****o and i had been discussing just such an option for the rear. we are planning a mesh or perferated steel grill up front with matching material used in the rear in place of the finned looking stainless (or is it aluminum? i have'nt looked that close) trim between the back up lights. we have already devised a plan to relocate the filler neck and sink the license plate into the rolled pan.. at that time we will look into fittng it around the lights. i like that idea the more i think about it.

thanks for the input brutha. ;)

    No ****...you're a real ***hole, and ya don't give a **** who knows it!!:D

But...you're a funny and genuinely honest ***hole, one of the last hold-outs carrying the 'old Hamb at***ude' well into the future, and beyond!!!

...and the pointy, death-inducing tail lights that got the Ralph Naders of the world all wet and sticky are KILLER!!! Make the rest of the car equally as dangerous and it'll be a certified Death Razor on wheels! (Don't forget the Ben-Hur hubcap daggers!!!)

    :D

Ha Ha Ha...shame on you for bashing The Doctor's rig, though...that's the cleanest Back Porch Hauler I ever seen...only needs a canopy over the bed and a rocking chair or two!

Not putting anybody down here, but...aaaahh... taste is taste and if we're
talking safety... Compare tearing up your gabardine trousers on that fin, to
Tim's nice little vehicle. How about standing in the way for that car while he's cruising ?

    Dear Kustombuilder,
Please excuse me, I did not mean to offend you with my sarcastic humor attack at the FEDS and their innumerable regulations that DO NOT APPLY TO YOU. You obviously have me confused with someone else as I never went to "art school" and I do not own a truck, let alone one "featured" in Truckin Magazine. I do not consider my self a "know-it-all" as I am old enough and wise enough to know that I don't "know-it-all". Lighten up would you.

I did make one mistake. As soon as I hit "Submit Reply", I realized I hadn't put in a comment on your car changes. As for your hard work. I like it. It is different than the usual changes seen on kustoms. I like the '59 Caddy tail lights, cause they "work" on kustoms. They are out of place on highboy RPU's.

Everybody, enjoy your 4th of July Weekend and please say a prayer for our troops in the field keeping us safe.

He was directing his answer to DrJ, not you, Phil. I think only the first "F*** you" was directed your way. Everything after that was aimed at another.

I thought your post was really funny. So, at least one person got it... :D

I like the work but I'd disembowel myself if it were mine. If the potential for self-injury exists in the hot rod world, I seem to succeed in doing so.

Phil, only the first "**** you" was aimed your way. the rest were for my ole buddy Dr. ****wad. we seem to "clash" every few months or so on here. it's a testosterone thing  .

i had to give you the big "FU" just in case there was even an ounce of contempt in your statement. the sarcasm was not lost on me as i am a VERY sarcastice mother****er (i get it from my mother. REALY!), but i could'nt let you off too, easy just in case. ;)

I'm going to take into account the FACT that your probably just a back woods Jethro who doesn't know any better, like that Hillbilly Gomer who must be doing something to someone under the desk so he can write those **** articles for Truckin'

And I understand you don't like what I have to say...
    Truth hurts some times.
    Most times in some cases.

But if you read ALL the responses to this thread you'll see that most of the Kustom guys have said the danger of the points isn't worth the risk, just for some menacing look.

Why you need to hate me, the ONLY person who actually took the time to write down an alternative design you could use, and at no charge to you, is beyond me.
But then, you ARE a self proclaimed ***hole....
Maybe it's from working too long out in the hot sun, Mad dogs and Englishmen and all that.

The only reason I validate my knowledge of and training in good design is because hundreds of new guys have joined since the last time I did and I think they deserve to know that I'm not talking out of my hat.
Like when someone who does know what they're talking about like **** Spadaro replied about suspension, that's what he does, or C9 on fabricating just about anything, Crosley on transmissions, Enjenjo on damn near everything to do with a frame or ElPolacko, Pro rod builder, give expert advice and it gets argued into the next three pages by kids who haven't even finished reading their first issue of Old Skool Rodz.

Say, When ya gonna finish that clone of Posies 5 window pickup???

Jeez, if ya built a car without sharp edges you'd have a Neon!

Would you people really want Mike to build ****o a ****ing NEON???!!! :D

Any idiot who wanders into those points and injures themselves needs to be laughed at...not protected! And...if they stab ya in the nuts...the car's sittin' too high!!!

RIIIIIGHT!! i'm not gonna brag about any of the work i've done and posted here on the board over the last few years, but what have you offered, other than youy ****eyed opinions???
as for "Gomer". well, if you were to read all the PMs i got from other HAMBers who have told me "it's about time someone told Dr.J his truck is a POS and he should shut up" then you'd see it's not just him and i . i won't "out" anyone since they obviously don't want to put themselves in the line of fire by sharing their opinions with the board.

"ALL"??? i think you better read it again.

    who asked you to???

funny you don't hear any of those guys telling us how smart they are constantly.

amazing too, all this "training in good design" and yet you still built that abortion of a truck. i'm amazed you actually believe it is cool. i'm sure it appeals to lots of small children at the local McDonalds though.

FYI. you obviously ARE "talking out of your hat".

when are you gonna build ANYTHING????

now go away. i don't have time for a battle of wits with an unarmed man.
