I do like this site. As you can tell I dont post a lot. There is some real good info here and building a hotrod by yourself sometimes you need all help you can get. I read lots of tech stuff here in the general discussion board so I posted a question about some seats I am trying to put in my 53 belair.

It got deleted and I was sent a nasty little message telling me to read to forum guidelines, Which I might add I have looked high and low for and can not find. So what did I do wrong? Is it illegal on this forum to put japanese seats in a chevy?

I doubt if anyone would know the difference.

It may not be the "Japanese seats" as much as the style of the seats you were asking about. Bench or buckets, the majority of the guys on here will tell you that if the leanback on the seat sticks up above the window sills more than an inch or so or if they aren't pretty well square across the tops they are wrong for traditional cars.
Where a pair of buckets out of a 63 Impala SS might be considered ok to run a pair of highbacks out of anything is just wrong for these cars. If it looks like something that the tuner car guys would like it's going to be wrong for the 53.

I didn't read your original post but it may not have been what you wrote but what what one of the others wrote in answer to it. Some seem to feel that they have to issue derogatory comments that aren't deemed acceptable by most standards to earn their "creds". Once you are hear a while you will see that most people post helpful info and there is a small cadre that only posts negative comments as they think it makes them one of the "cool traditional guys".

Sigh I guess I should have posted pictures. The seats have a removeable head rest and look really good once that is removed. They are not high backs and are flat across the top kinda like the old chevy seats but much more comfy.

I see now why I have been a member since 06 but only have 34 posts. Yall have a real nice day I will find another forum and I am sure no one will miss me at all. LOL

From my limited experience here most anything "modern" is off topic. And that's not a bad thing at all, this board is focused on traditional hot rods and kustoms.

Electronic fuel injection, billet stuff, Ford modular engines, digital gauges, 20" wheels, etc and stuff like that are for other boards. Ditto rat rods. Is it a hard and fast rule? No, stuff does get discussed on here that isn't traditional but it's the exception to the rule by a long shot.

Best thing to do is read a lot, I read 20-30 threads for every one I post in. You'll get the just of the board. The level of talent on here and the knowledge base is mind blowing, you'll learn more than you ever imagined about traditional kustoms and hot rods.

If they just closed it, folks could search it but deleted its gone and all the thoughtful posts.
