I am rebuilding a 235 chevy inline six and i was wondering where to get parts for it? I would like to find a four barrel intake and a good cam with a nice idle too it but idk where to get an overhaul kit or where to find the cam and intake.
PATRICKS in Az has lots of 235 hop up parts. I once got a 2x1 intake from them...really gave the 235 a shot in the arm! Also check ebay, 235 stuff pops up from time to time. GL
Patricks is also a great source for info. Either Patrick or son Phillip seem glad to help on the phone.
Thanks for all the replies i have found about everything i wanted for the six. But can you convert a mech. lifter truck engine to hydr. lifter cam?? and if so what all do i have to replace?
The blocks were different for different year production....some have oil p***ages, some don't. Might help to know exactly what you're working on. And then contact on of the above spe******ts, they'll know what you need
i also have another straight six but do not know what it is but i know it was earlier 60s. Where are the block numbers at? or is there another way to tell wat the engine is?
Stamped numbers (that don't necessarily tell you what year it is) on the pad by the distributor hole. Tell us what's stamped on it and we might be able to decipher it. Cast numbers on the same side of the block, date code is a letter followed by two to four numbers. such as A 13 8 would be January 13th, 1958
all '58-up blocks have the cross drilled lifter bores for either type of lifter. Stovebolts do not like hydraulic lifters. Thet tend to bleed out and hammer at sustained rpms. Patrick's wouldn't even sell hydros for a time, maybe they still won't?... If the block has the 3 bolt side mounts, and the water pump isn't higher than the top of the block, then it is a '58-62 vintage block. The casting number on these is located within the 3 bolt bosses on the p***enger side of the block. You would need to take off the motor mount to read it. Date code is above the starter.
A is a p***enger car 235 from the late 50s-early 60s, if you want to know what year it is you need the casting date
