  1. Yeah I hear ya, I'm 64 and that's exactly my point, I love the car but you didn't see that back then because "we" were broke kids that spent our money keeping em running. Now I've got the money to do stuff I could"nt afford then, and I'm doing it!!!

It's a little too chopped to be perfect, but I'd still drive it. :D

Up here in Canuckistan' we call our coffee's double doubles.

On the subject of the crown vic, I think the chop is a bit radical for my liking, but I love the paint.

I had this older friend that had this 49 merc that had this much chop and I used to ride around with him wearing a white t shirt, Levis and penny loafers. AM radios, leading in and drive-in hamburger stands. That was 1959 and all was good. You can try to emulate that time in space but it will never be real again. The cars today miss the mark because they are too perfect and glitzy.. If you were not there you can't appreciate the simplicity of the day.

Proportional, Un-proportional, Squashed, Cool, Evil, The way it was, Not, Too Chopped, and maybe it is all of the above. From the angle I am looking, the car looks like something I would be very proud to be seen driving anywhere. I think the one I am going with is the Evil look, in a good way of course. Bad to the bone would fit as well IMO.

Actually, the thought I had in mind about the old way is just the fact of the low ride, side pipes, cruisers and the Merc tail lights...the top is just icing on the cake...by the way...there's a motor under that hood big as it gets....it don't just ride good,it rides good and fast....Most of the purists that complain about messing with an original car just talk about the top....don't seem to care at all about the pipes, the tail lights ,the skirts.....beats me.....and,of course, we just have ignore 'em....life gets teejus sometimes.....Loafer

Looks like something fell on it. Less can be more, and here more is certainly less. Also, there is no way that windshield is glass given how steep that chop is.

OK guys, try it this way...starting from the BOTTOM, he get the points for the skirts, lakes pipes, spotlights, and what appears to be a louvered hood. So how about if the glass is half full instead of half empty, eh? At least his is finished - I just recently got my rusty roller home with tons of work to do :)

    I like it but id

    1.Paint it black
    2. Ditch all the cheap blingy crap - flippers - lake pipes - spots - chrome headlight things.

Then it would be evil = cool as it gets

I like that the work looks real well done, but don't care much for any rods or customs that looks as if there was no thinking at all into actully driving them around with out a broken neck feeling,it's a too low look that is real good for race cars on the saltflats only,on the steet it looks undrivible and not smart:cool:

  22. Russ Meeks just chopped a Crown Vic. He went 2 inches then raised it a 1/4 inch. I've seen the cut and filler.

It looks like a nicely finished chop. I personally it looks great . The car might be over accessorized , but other than that hell yeah.

I agree with Johnny but I always thought the purpose of the chop was to enhance the overall flow of the car. It makes the body look way too wide. A little less would have done more for the car in the end. But I'm a youngster, what the hell do I know. :D

Amen! It reminds me of one I saw in a mag years ago. Too much of a good thing is just right.
