Looks like cancer won. I have to start two month of external beam radiation for prostate cancer on the 26th of march. They said they caught it early enough so after the radiation it should hopefuly be gone. I dont know how I'll feel, but going to try and be at the round up on Sat., with or without the car. Sorry for the post, just needed to vent a little, I'm kinda pissed off at the whole mess and for some reason more worried about how much this will cost me then the cancer itself.
Life hands us shit cards sometimes. I am glad that you caught it in time. Get well! There will be others man! Jason
What was your PSA count? Are you a vet? If so you could utilize the VA hospital. Did you read and study up on all your options? Good luck with your treatment and like what's previously been said the Round UP will be there next year.
Worse case, you can rent one of those Rascals to get around at the show, might have to reserve early if you want one with WWW and side pipes. Good luck on the treatment and I hope it doesn't break the bank!
Sorry to hear about the bad news, but good news that they caught it early. Take care of yourself 1st,the show will be there next year when you are at full speed. Prayers go out.
I cant remember what the psa was. They took 32 pieces with the biopsy, found cancer on 12 out of the 32. Gleason score was 3+3=6 on most with acouple being 3+4=7. I wanted the seed implants, they said not with the 7's Radiation was my best option. I dont really want to remove it if its not necessary. It was stage T1C
Cancer Sucks, sorry to hear this, so just go kick cancers a.... well you know what ....keep the faith and get well soon... in our prayers
My best friend just beat prostate cancer. He is KINCHS57 here. Changed his diet, his bad habits, went through his treatments and 6 months later he is cancer free. Hang in there, you can win.
I had throat cancer in 2008. At the end of my chemo and radiation treatments I felt like shit lost 50 pounds couldn't eat it was tough.I started thinking of one of my good freinds who passed away in a car accident a year earlier I was thinking what would Dan a ex Navy Seal say to me if he were here today? I heared his voice I swear to God it was him and he said suck it up Art (thats my middle name). I had this big smile on my face all day and I new he was right all you can do is suck it up and move on. Good luck and God Bless you and I mean this in a nice way suck it up
you should be able to make it w/ the radiation treatment. you might not be 100%, but it's better than chemo. keep your head up man. don't let this thing win -DVZ
Keep the faith my friend I have been cancer free for three years now. Educate your self ask lots of questions have some one with you at doc's visits they will hear things the doc say's you might not hear or pay attention to. Good Luck get well !
I think what pisses me of the most is, I dont feel sick in any way. If they hadnt told me I had it I wouldnt have known. I compare it to getting that traffic ticket you didnt deserve, pay the fine (radiation) and your over it.
I'm coming up on 1-1/2 since I completed two months of radiation for throat cancer. Don't think about what you're missing while you recover. Keep focused on where you're headed and the events to come. I basically lost at least a year of everything and am still recovering my strength & endurance, but I'm back wrenching, cutting grass, and taking care of my family now and you will be too. It'll come, but it'll take a while. One day at a time and if you get to feeling depressed, look back to see how far you've come and how many people are worse off than you are. I'll be praying for you and for a quick recovery period.
My recommendation: DaVinci! If you have radiation as your initial treatment you have nothing to fall back on if the cancer comes back. If you have a good robotic surgeon, youll be up and around in 2 days and back to work in 2 weeks. he will also be able to spare the nerves and you'll be back to normal, (continent and erectile-wise), in a few months. The ultimate decision is yours but please do some research. Good Luck!!
I have had radical (removal) prostrate surgery and follow up radiation treatment for security. everyone recovers at a different pace. as for radiation, did it once a week for several weeks. felt fine between treatments. I still did most of my normal stuff. I also have good health insurance paid for by employer. you have to do what is best for you. not something that you can ignore. one day at a time.
my dad had a prostatectomy and radiation when he was 65.............that was 20 years ago and he's still alive and well. My wife is 2.5 years post breast cancer diagnosis and treatment and doing great. The way they do things now is way better than they did then, if you have a positive attitude you will do fine (there are medical studies to prove it!)
I just went through it myself last fall. It was caught early like yours. I had the removal after looking at all the options. PLEASE make sure you are well informed on your course of treatment before you make your decision!!. If you want to talk, P.M. me and I will give you my phone number or I can call you if you like. Take care, G.....
Let me tell you that "You can do this"!! As a five time throat cancer survivor (yes that's five tumors over six and a half years) I am living proof that it can be done. First tumor I followed the doctors advice. Second through fifth I did my research and talked to survivors and got doctors to talk off the record. Last tumor was killed by all natural treatment. Fifth one is currently shrinking and should be gone soon. Attitude is 99% of winning this battle. Do as much stuff you would normally do and at least one thing that is really out there but something you have always wanted to do. Best therapy there is, trust me on that one. Three of my friends had the robotic surgery and were up the next day and back to work in five. Fully functional and they still have radiation if it comes back. I personally have not done the rad treatment. Holding as my last resort option. Your life and your choices. Don't rush into it until you know with full confidence that you have made the best choice for you. That confidence will make everything you do easier and smoother going. Praying for you. PM me if you want to. Talking about it makes it easier to deal with. Dan
Man I hate to hear this. It sounds like you caught it early, so that is a blessing. I have no doubt that you will beat it. Hopefully you will feel well enough to spend a little time at the Roundup. The fresh air will do you some good. I'll add you to my prayer list. Doc.
Lots of great advice in here. I had a golf ball sized tumor removed 3 years ago from my brain. Did chemo and radiation, lost a lot of weight. Going in again April 10 to have a reoccurring spot removed (same place). PET scan found it, could be cancer, could be a spot of active neurons.
I think most of us would be more concerned with the cost of the treatments. I know I for one would just have to die, no way I could borrow the money or pay it back for the treatments. That said, I am damned sorry you are sick, that really sucks man. I do hope that it all comes out OK for ya.
I have dealt with non-hodgkins lymphoma and then prostate cancer. I am a survivor of both. I looked at several options in dealing with the prostrate cancer. I chose the low dose long term external beam radiation. I got them to do it first thing in the morning. It took just a few minutes and I was up and out. I felt no physical side affects. In choosing between old style surgical removal, the newer robotic surgery and the radiation I looked at many studies and found that the end result was the same no matter the treatment chosen. These studies involved hundreds and hundreds of men. I have been a diabetic for 61 years and felt that the less cutting the better. Also surgical removal has other side affects I did not want to have to put up with. This all took place three years ago. My PSA remains a steady 0.2. If you want to talk, I'd be glad to. Give me a PM or email.
