... And I want to knock on the door to see if the owner would like to sell it. What would be a good price for something like this? I know the pic is t much but it's all I have right now.
If someone did that to me I would be inclined to politely collect all of their information... then show up at their house the following evening to do some ******** bartering.
...I think maybe what he's saying is, if the guy wanted to sell it, he would put a For Sale sign on it. He may just be looking for friends by parking it outside the garage.
I saw several T trucks at the recent Big 3 here in San Diego and nothing complete was less than $7k and the nicer ones were a bit north of $10K
I dont see anything wrong with knocking on his door and saying something like "Hi Sir, I happend to be driving by and saw your Model A parked out front and was wondering if you might be interested in selling it."
Yeah, I suppose it's all in the approach. When I enlarged the picture I noticed the front tire looks low. But putting myself in that situation where my truck is an obvious daily driver I got a bit defensive.
My approach has always been to just ask what the story is with the truck, If it is for sale, that will come out in conversation. If not, mention that if he ever decides to sell it,please let you know. Be sure to leave them your phone #.
ive never understood guys who are affriad to knock on someones door to ask about a car in the driveway all they can do is say yeah its forsale or im gonna fix it up someday or get the hell off my porch ive knocked on alot of doors asking about cars and as long as your friendly to them 99.9% of the time they are friendly right back and most of the time you get a good conversation out of it infact i dont think i ever got the get the hell off my porch and ive knocked on doors in parts of town that at any minute you think your gonna hear banjo music or worse and allways walked away just fine sometimes i even walked away with the car
around here, they'd ask about 12 grand for it. maybe get 9 or 10. if it runs nice and all. with that said, if i want to sell one of my old cars, i park it at the road with a sign on it...
Don't ask if it's for sale. Ask if you can look at it or get the nickel tour. Be a fellow enthusiast and share some info. If he offers it for sale then you might have that conversation in a more welcome venue than a "hey, wanna sell it?" approach. Works for me...
