I am rattle cannig the 64 flat black with purple scallops. I want to put a push plate on it and a FAKE logo. I picked this real name for my photoshop because it is my last name. Have at it.

If you want a non joke. I think that if I see another "FAKE" anything speed shop, etc. painted on the door of a car or truck I will puke. If it is a race car type of deal that is about all I can stomache at this point.

True, there are many fake names out there, I might have to go with my friend's shop. But I don't want to use a real name without permission, therefore a fake name will suffice. And I would prefer a funny non offensive one, our church members will end up seeing this. With or without the logo, it'll still have purple scallops. ;)

Um, yeah, but didn't get far yet. All my bicycles and motorbikes stored at my old work have gotten neclected by yours truely. So has the Datsun, haven't touched it in almost 2 months. This truck my wife and I are just doing a quick rattlecan job since it's a driver.

  7. Hey Eric!

    How's the Datsun?

Are you still working at that hot rod shop?

I'd too have to say that there have been quite a few (too many) speed shop logo wearing trucks show up in the magazines and on the internet... but in my town of 70k, there's like one dude that has an old truck with signage on the door.

I still think it's cool... I'd like to put "Sam's Garage" on the door of my F-100... but am torn about it...

But "__________ Speed Shop"??? yea, those are done a lot.

Eric, what about doing something else? How about "Purple's Datsun Repair"? Or
    "Eric's Rice Rockets"?

Have fun with it, whatever you do...

    Sam.

The problem that ther are very few ways to build atraditional hot ord truck, theor only perpose in the 50's hot rod scene was as push trucks or as parts trucks.

Since you asked for opinions, and seems have been getting some...

I think changing it to "HALL Trucking" would work.

It's honest, because you are Hall and you are trucking!
"Hall's trucking" would not be, unless you are in the business of trucking.

Would be more honest than the fantasy speed shop thing.

On the graphics, The white is kinda stark and "alone" on the two shades of purple truck.
Maybe "shadow" the letters with the scallop purple, and highlight or stripe the scallops with the white to tie it all together?

You can change it if u dont like it, or get tired of it, or get tired of folks making fun of it,or think of something else to put on it. But what do I know?

He said he had to be able to park it at church< I think...
    So...

    "WE HALLS ONLY HAUL DONKEY!"

  15. And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ***, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an *** have I slain a thousand men.

    King James Bible, Judges 15:16

(But the new version, for those who don't wish to offend, refers instead to a donkey.)

Thought was better than my first idea: Meth Man's Speed Shop.

    Hey Eric!

    How's the Datsun?
So close to being back on the road it's a shame I haven't had time to finish. But the boys are priority

Are you still working at that hot rod shop?
seldom, but will be back there on saturdays

I'd too have to say that there have been quite a few (too many) speed shop logo wearing trucks show up in the magazines and on the internet... but in my town of 70k, there's like one dude that has an old truck with signage on the door.
I haven't seen any up here

I still think it's cool... I'd like to put "Sam's Garage" on the door of my F-100... but am torn about it...

But "__________ Speed Shop"??? yea, those are done a lot.

Eric, what about doing something else? How about "Purple's Datsun Repair"?
    this sounds good
    Or
    "Eric's Rice Rockets"?

Have fun with it, whatever you do...

    Sam.

I may put my club name on the doors, "SCUZ club".
I had thought about "Junky's speed shop".

  17. MY $000.02 is... It's YOUR truck and YOU have to look at it (well, and your fellow church members!) and to pay for it. So, do whatever makes YOU happy or makes you laugh.

But, I'm creating (re-creating?) a "barn find" and am also having trouble with coming up with a name or logo for the doors myself. If I put the name of my town, or my name, or nickname on the truck, that'd be cool, but what if I ever sell it??? Will the new owner like "Johnnie's Auto Repair" or "Pittsburgh, PA" or "Newport News" on the doors? I know, it sounds like I'm going against what I just said above, but it IS a consideration.

As far as naming it after a phony speed shop, I don't see any harm at all in that. Make up something that sounds cool and that you like.

Don't think anybody will buy OR NOT buy a truck/car because the current owner has something faddish or silly written on the doors or tailgate.

While it is yours make it yours as you wish. If anyone asks about buying it they obviously don't mind.

Actually, what's getting played out is the fake speed shop logos that are purposely faded to make it look like an old shop truck. If the logo is new and bright, it won't look like you are trying to pretend it's something it's not. It will just look like an homage, which is sort what all new traditional hot rods really are.

Wow!! This thread is five years old! I was 25 when I replied to this last time!

The red truck I posted in now oregano green. Still painted with house paint, though... :)

  24. Don't rattle can it! Buy some quarts of Rustoleum and spray it correctly you will be much happier in the long run. As far as the logo make it something that applies to you or a local defuct bussiness with a cool old school ph #. I like the idea of Hall's Trucking or maybe Hall and sons trucking, serving you since 19?? your birth year or year you got your DL or something. I don't know how to photoshop so I can't help you there sorry.

Where am I? What just happened???

Oh, that old thing. I gave up on that truck a while ago when my wife was pregnant and the doc found her cancer. It's still at my sister's place and needs to go. When I replaced the bearing in the generator I messed something up and never got back to it. So now the fuel pump dried out too from sitting. I have other things to fix long before that truck, my new house, the Kamimaze Kustom and the 2 Edsels. even the motorcycle is before that.
