I appreciate your input, but even finding the time to part her out will be a challenge at this point. I'd looking to recoup my investment... that's all. I may be able to turn a profit, but I'd really just like to see it go to someone who will get it running and leave it essentially as it is. That was my intention, and the widow I bought it from seemed very pleased to know that it would be restored. Hopefully it will be yet!

I hear ya... someone local would be ideal anyway, as there are two wings and several wheels with tires that go with it, too. Thanks, though!

If ya dont have it sold later this summer i might be in the market, a friend of mine drives to farm auctions in kansas and i might see if i can get him to detour, Ive been wanting a vintage dirt car but all the local ones have been parted, including the '30 chevy i'm trying to rebuild.

I would talk with the widow, she may have some vintage pics of it with her late husband? Always cool to see these restored back to what they were.

She does indeed! I need to follow-up with her for scans of those photos so (hopefully) it'll be restored to it's former glory. That's all I'm asking of the buyer!

LOL!!!....I think you are prolly about 200 PM's and messages too late for this deal....But I guess it doesn't hurt to try,

WOW!!.....$950.00.....I miss out on all the good deals!!!....LOL I have payed alot more for alot less of a car, and would have glady payed alot more for this car, It is super cool just as it is, but should be put back on the vintage sprint track in my opinion.

Wow, what a find! Very pleased that this going to someone who is dedicated the the History of Sprint Car Racing, and a member of the Eastern Museum of Motor Sports Board of Directors, who'll give it the home it so richly deserves! Congrats, Junior!

Guess I'm in line behind you- rd Martin.. :D

    Very cool find.

Definatly need to go see the the widow and get the ANY pictures, programs, and notes that go with the car, Even reciepts on parts bought sometimes help... (They might have writen on them what kind of car it is, or the speed shop they came from, that might know more details on the car)

    Any leads are good leads.

Its Dick Watson's old racecar raced from the early sixties till the seventies at Springfield Speedway. I talked to Chris last night and when he gets it all hauled home I'm going to pick it up. I'll be sure to show the restoration here on the HAMB. When its ready we will take it out for vintage nights at the local tracks which is just about every weekend during the summer months around here. We will also be running it with a Hillegas midget and a Hillegas sprint car which are also being restored.

Hey folks -- yes, it's going to fatabone. Early bird gets the worm, I suppose! Sorry if I have not replied to your PM, but I got flooded with them last night; serves me right for trying to pass the car along for what I paid for it! (ha ha)

I'm glad it'll be restored, which is all I could ask. Hated to think that it might be parted out...

Sale pending, guys. If for whatever reason it doesn't happen, I'll go in order of those interested, which is already 10 or so. Sorry!

Classy....... with a couple young kids, I'm sure you could use the extra bux, not many guys would have passed it along at their cost.

  26. This was a cool thread, incredible find! Great cscmc1 gave the opportunity to someone on HAMB to take care of the car. Think more of the car than the money, uncommonly those days.

Car is packed up and fatabone hauled her down the road earlier this evening. She'll be missed, but I know she's in good hands. Thanks for all the interest, everyone!
