Pete was a true hot rodder at heart. His pinstriping work was phenominal and completly mind blowing. His heart was bigger than anyone can ever describe. He did free work for his friends and promoted his work not by advertizing but just by word of mouth from one friend to another. Word has gotten around wick about his work and in the truly good nature that he conducts himself in. Its a true tradgedy for something like this to happen to such an upstanding guy in the hot rod community.

Any and all donations are MUCH appreciated and will never be forgotten!

The latest word on Pete's condition as of last night at 8:00 P.M. is : The blood clots in his brain are starting to recede so that is a very good thing. They are going to keep him in an induced coma for a while longer because when he starts to come around he become combative and tries to pull out tubes. The doctors are very encouraged by his progress and the fact that he has made it through the first 24 hours is a critical period.

I want to also thank everyone that has included Pete in their prayers and your money contributions have been a blessing for Pete's wife Melanie. So far there has been over $3000 in contributions and they are still coming. That's good because much more will be needed for the coming months.

I am always amazed at the way our Hot Rod world comes together in a time of need. We are all so compe***ive in everything we do but when a fellow Rodder is in need we always pitch in and get it done. Even though some of you try to be the "Bad ***", when the chips are down you're there.

    Thank you,Walt

You guys should all take some time and read the thread... the big one is 20 pages...

...AND watch the video flyover of the bug... the side shot doesn't show how bad this wreck was.

There is a lot of love all over the world for the guy.

I'm sure it would be the same for someone one here if, God forbid, something like that were to happen.

  6. Thank you Ryan, and all the others that have sent their good wishes and donations. The outpouring of help and well-wishers has been mind boggling. We've literally got folks all over the world jumping in to help Pete and Melanie through this, and even though I thought I knew the extent of how much Pete is looked up to and loved by his fellow members and people in his life... I'm still amazed at what I've seen happening in the last couple days.

Being able to hand a $3000 check to Melanie yesterday, was truly awesome and it's all happening because of folks like this pulling together when a good guy goes down.

No update on his condition since Walt posted up above. The hospital really limits the time that Melanie is able to go into his room and it's only limited to a 1/2 hour when they do let her in. But the brief time the doctor popped his head into the waiting room and gave Melanie a "thumbs up"... really meant a lot.

On behalf of Pete and Melanie... thank you again for everything.

    ~Steve

    Is there any new news??

  10. Thank you for everyone's ongoing support... you'll never know how much this means to everyone involved.

As of this morning (about 2am) ... Pete had the the shunt/bolt taken out of his brain, and tomorrow they're going to start weaning him off of his sedative.

Here is the latest message on his condition posted on my site from Pete's wife, Melanie.
    This was from yesterday morning.

    Thanks again everybody.

Man, Mel is a tough girl.

I'm relieved that there is some good news.

I usually don't ever pray. Ever.

But I prayed last Saturday night after first reading his story.

this is such a tragedy and such an amazing story at the same time.

It shows exactly what kind of person pete was and what kind of people are on these car forums.

I've seen stuff posted from sandrails, nissans, subaru's, vw sites world wide. it doesn't matter...people just care.

Pete must be an amazing man to get this kind of response. I can only hope and pray that in the event of something happening like this to me, that I would get half this response.....and half would be more than I deserve.

I can only hope that more and more attention is drawn, funds continue to come in, prayers continue to be made.

on an encourageing side note. I had a friend get shot with a pellet gun in the head when I was in junior high. May seem small but he was in a coma for 3 months and hads tons of surgeries. He recovered just fine. Walking talking driving working. Another guy I know from another car forum I am on was in an accident and had a severe head injury. Coma, etc. At first they thought there was no way he would recover. His body healed. His brain was functioning only slightly better. And then it just started getting better and better faster and faster. I haven't heard much lately but last I heard he was able to communicate and was getting better every day.

The brain is an amazing thing and new studies are showing that we can in fact regenerate brain cells and brain function.

I have complete confidence that Pete will recover and people are gonna be beating down his garage door to get their cars striped by him.

    Godspeed to Pete, friend, family.

As they seem fond of saying on volksrod.....MOJO!!!

We got some great news today. Pete opened his eyes for the first time in 9 days. Woo Hooo............I was a very small thing that gives us very large hopes.
I want to thank everybody again that made contributions and prayed for Pete. Words alone can't express the gra***ude that I have for you people. Pete will continue to need our prayers and financial support for a while longer but I'm sure he will pin stripe something for everyone when this is over.

Thanks again and God blees you, Walt

  16. Looks like you beat me to it, Walt :D

I'm so stoked right now, I can barely sit in one spot to type this.
Thank you everybody, for the ongoing support. He's still got a long road ahead of him, but this is huge progress.

Again, for all the support, prayers, thoughts, and donations... a TON of thanks on behalf of Pete and Melanie.

Great news to hear about Pete's improving condition.

This sort of thing reminds us that no matter what scene or style we're into, we're all one big family, and that any day spent above groud could be worse.

Prayers and thoughts are with Pete and his family.
