I haven't found much in the search, about mounting hood tops without the hood sides. What are good, secure and traditional looking methods, to secure a single piece hood top on an early hot rod. My dilemma is, that I want it to look good, with or without the hood installed. Pictures would be appreciated, Thanks for your help. Chris.
Someone on here had a slick setup. It was some sort of slide bolt attached to the underside of the hood on all 4 corners. Then with the hood off, I don't think there was much showing as to where the slides fit into?
Straps are not for all cars but in this case I do believe a set of oxblood straps would be absolutely cool on your car. Black hardware so they don't get too flashy and away you go.
Here's a link to some good ideas: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=356901&highlight=32+hood I pondered this problem and ended up copping 32 barn car's idea. You do have those little tubes showing when the hood is off but they're pretty incon****uous. Here's a few pics of his. I don't have any of mine yet.
I did that on the coupe in my avatar back in 95. I could run hood top, sides sides only top only. I used pit pins
I like Rolf's solution and will be using it on my 32. This is probably the one that someone was referring to. Here's the link http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=639441&highlight=rolf
i was just going to post that..........anway Chris they are aircraft canopy latches. Looks slick , works great, and fit right into the groove on firewall and grill shell so no extra hardware showing when hood is off
Yes, that is the one I was talking about...Rolfs setup. I am glad Chris started this thread because I needed to copy those. The search function is not working this morning on trying to see if Rolf got the full fenders on yet? Anybody know if he posted pics with fenders?
