Lavender?? On purpose?? Sounds like your mind is made up, but I vote for a dark color.
It's not that hard to hose them off now and then and if it's primer you don't even have to dry it because spots are not a problem - I dry my car by driving it home from the quarter wash.

put some narrowed control arms on it if you can... I think it will help hide the fact that it is clipped.

On a side note, what size tires are up front?

My 55 Chrysler was a lavender mist PPG. We cleared it in a violet pearl and in the sun it flipped very nice. That car would change colour in different light anything from almost a white to a violet in the sun.

I would note that a matt finish shows that the car was done recently. If that's your intention, then do that. The style of the car, as it looks now, is pretty timeless. A shiny, periwinkle, lavender, like the car Gary Howard built for Jimmy Vaughn many years ago would look killer. "If it were mine, it would shine", said in my Johnny Cochran voice...

beleive me i understand the guys that want paint, instead of primer. I got my first custom at the age of 15 the guy that did pinstriping in my old home town in texas was 21 at that time. Telling him about how i could not afford paint with a job delivering the local news paper. He told me to bring it over to his shop on saturday about 8.00am. By 3.00pm it was laid in green primer, he charged me $40.00 took $10.00 a week to pay him. Then he striped it for free. So the primer is an old skool thing for me ive had several both ways. At this point the only hing i can tell you for sure there will be no dark colors its got to be bright and pop when you see it coming. Check my album and you will see the bright colors. But i do respect everyone opinons.
    Thanks much foot
oh yea i did drive the wheels off of it with no drivers license

Love those 48 Pontiac's. Dad went to Ft Worth to buy a new '49 Pontiac and came home with the '48 demonstrater. It was loaded and didn't even have a clutch. That was when the dealerships had only one or two cars for demonstraters.
Three cars later Dad went to a '56 Chevy (in which I out ran everything in North Texas until the '57 Chevy's came out).
Even several cars after the Chevy, I heard my Dad say he would trade what he had for a new "48 Pontiac.

What an asinine statement. The OP is talking about his Pontiac getting a base coat with a flattened clear and makes reference to something that happened 40-45 years ago and you throw some BS like this out there.

Nice ride, you always seem to find some cool looking ones.
