Who's going to Goodguys Iowa this Weekend?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 63CadGuy, Jun 27, 2005.

  1. Just wondering who will be at Goodguys in Iowa this weekend. I'll be cruising around in my buddy Lonnies '55, so give me a yell if you see us, there will be plenty of cold beer in the cooler!!!!!

Roadster and I will be there on Thursday and staying for the long holiday weekend. If my new tires get here in time we will be driving Big Olds. If not, we will drive his roadster.

Wanna plan a meet and greet to make sure we all get a chance to actually meet each other? I don't know the fairgrounds at all so I can't really suggest a place BUT 2pm is a good time for us as we have plans for noonish. Any suggestions for a place to meet?

Will be there on Friday. I'll be with my buddy Ray in his 34 Fordor, plates say NVR DUN. Want to try and put some faces with the names here and shoot some photos of traditional rods and customs. I'll be carr'n my vintage Zeis Ikon. Old car pics from on old camera, cool huh? Look for a fat boy in a "Smokey's Best Damn Garage" cap

I'll be driving my truck up on Friday and stay til Sunday (as long as the truck makes it). I'll be with Slacker53's '53 Ford and 23T-bucket. It's a great show, been looking forward to it since we left last year. Hope to see some of you there.

I'll be goin' early Fri....stayin' Sat til 5-6 ish. A good place to meet would be on the front porch on the big brick building that faces the grandstand (west side I think) .. just a suggestion. It may be hard to get all your cars in one spot, but you could meet on the porch no problem. You will like DesMoines; it's a great show.

  9. I'll have to post pics of it with the dual quad 409 he has in it now!

  10. I wanted to, but the ****** is slipping and I don't trust it. If I had bags on it I'd give it a shot, that way I could get the *** end up if I needed to tow or flatbed it if something broke, I don't think I could get a tow with it being as low as it is. I'll keep an eye out for your '64

  11. Are they having the garage built are again? If so, maybe we can meet there. Otherwise the big porch should be easy to find. Friday or Saturday or both?

Since we don't know if they are having the "Garage Grown" area or not lets go with what has been suggested.

NOONish both Friday and Saturday "on the front porch on the big brick building that faces the grandstand (west side I think)"

    I'll have cookies :D

I think I'm going Saturday. Definitely at least one day. The inlaws are stopping into town Saturday afternoon-Sunday, so I'm not sure what my plans are yet.

I want to see a HAMBer's '53 Ford, so I'll be hunting for it.

I don't know a lot about cars, and I don't know a lot about Des Moines since I never go down there, but I'm willing to meet up if you are all going to get together somewhere.

I will be there Saturday but alas, without wheels. Maybe Fordy6 will give me a lift. I have the battery box he needs to start his car!
By the way, the big brick builing aross from the Grandstands is either the Varied Industries Building - where all the vendors are or the Administration Building - much smaller and to the East of the VI Building - but it does have a porch. The VI has an overhang all the way around it...Tom - restorit

The track/grandstands are on the North side of the grounds. The brick building that has the big porch is across the road (main fairgrounds drag). The porch actually goes all the way around the building. So to avoid confusion, go to the porch side that faces the street (North).

What kinda cookies ya bringing Denise?

  19. So is it noonish or twoish?

  22. I'll try to meet ya'all there as that along with worst man duties will be the reason Im comin to town.......I may just pay the spectator fee/drive my average Joe vehicle/park outside- as I am way too cheap to do the other route!

I'll be there, Sat for sure and perhaps friday afternoon as well. I'll have to drive the daily driver, my only cl***ic or oldie driving is the '66 Mustang and I have a clutch problemm to sort out. I can't take that in anyway. I may be riding with my brother in his '40 Chevy pickup but the shotgun seat may be occupied by his son.

    I'll look for that porch.

Well first off I gotta tell you guys I'm really excited about going. I've never been to the GG DesMoines show but Race is already there setting up and he says the fairgrounds rock. I always like going to new places, it makes the adventure alittle more interesting.

Anyway, with all that being said, I screwed up. (Mark your calanders cuz it doesn't happen too often:p ) Roadster and I do already have plans for noonish with some other friends. I was so excited about the HAMB meet and greet that after my first post when I mentioned our other plans I forgot about it and then when Choprods said he had plans for 2pm, well noonish just sounded perfect. So, I'm going to mention to our other friends that we'll be running alittle late, THEREFORE we're going to be early for the HAMB meet and greet. :D

I don't expect the schedule to change on our account. I'm just mentioning when we ( me and Rudy) will be standing on the porch of that brick building early so that if others have the opportunity to come early, we'll be there. Soooo, with all that being said, we'll be standing on that porch on Friday and Saturday, at 11:30 with lots of cookies to share.:D

Do we need to tie a red scarf or something to "The HAMB" area of the porch to make it easy to find?

  27. I'm working 12's all weekend this weekend, 6pm to 6am. But, I will do my best to make it by noon Saturday. Don't have either project up and running yet so I'll be hoofing it. Looking forward to meeting as many HAMBers as I can. I'll be the short bald guy with a goatee and gl***es I'm about as wide as I am tall ;)

Got there about 10am today and stayed til about 4. I did find Slacker53's car and got to meet him. I didn't get to meet any other folks from here, but then again, I'm out of the loop anyway.

I saw a green convertible with HAMB license plates and a few suspected HAMB vehicles. I didn't take many photos, but they are at:

Saw you guys cruise by in the campground. Friends were camped by the showers. I was Testing their beer to make sure it was safe for their consumption. Didn't make it back on Sunday.
