Pertronix has just released an Igniter kit for the flathead Ford V-8 crab ('41-?) dist. They have them for 6 volt pos ground or 12 volt neg ground. These are for the factory crab dist. I just ordered two of the kits for my old Fords from Jegs, will give a drive report when I get them installed. To check them out go to www.pertronix.com then click on the NEW PERFORMANCE IGNITER KITS on the right column.

Any update on using the Ignitor kit for the 1939 through 1952 front-mount “N” series tractor distributor (kit #1247) on the early flathead crab distributor? I contacted a guy who is selling Petronix kits on ebay and he said the #1247 kit will work fine on the V8. I contacted Pertronix and they said they do not have a kit for the V8 but that the Pit Stop sells a modified Pertronix kit for the crab distributor: http://www.thepitstopgary.com/pricelist.html

Has anybody tried to make the 1247 kit work with the crab distributor or purchased one of the Pit Stop's kits? It can't be a very involved modification, they are only charging $30 more than Pertronix-
