Wipers are stuck

This is in my 60BA.Stuck wipers in vertical.
Where can I find a replacement switch?
How do I troubleshoot to know where problem is:switch,motor,linkage?

The one wire switch just supplies a ground to the motor.

Wiggle one arm to see if the other side wiggles. If both arms wiggle from just one arm, then both wiper shafts are not siezed up.

No, ...with key off,.. then go outside and grab one arm and slightly wiggle it back and forth without forcing it. If either of the wiper arm shafts are not frozen up with rust, the opposite side should show a little movement while you wiggle the other one.

If one shaft is frozen, both won't wiggle at the same time. Then if that is what happens, (no wiggle) then go wiggle the other one to see how that one feels. If one feels "solid" , that is the one that is frozen.

 

they worked fine until 2day.Neither arm will move/wiggle.Its like that horizontal linkage is stuck?.

 

If the wiper arms are not siezed, then you may have a switch issue or a wiper motor issue. You can pull the wiper motor ***y. and jumper it directly to the battery to see if it'll turn.

It looks like a Chevy truck one I had in a 63. Take a look at switch pictures on LMC truck website, or better yet, you should be able to find a Chevy car repro website that will have it. I just don't keep up with car repro stuff because I don't own one.

 

Just FWIW: most electric wipers work by switching the NEGATIVE (earth). Positive is supplied as constant (ign. switched 'ON'), which allows them to park.

So, make sure there is positive power at the motor, and try applying negative power to the remaining leads.

Where can I get a replacement switch.Already digured bad switch.

 

NAPA, Oreilly's, Autozone. They all still sell parts for older cars and trucks.

 

Nope,none of those stores are able to get the wiper switch.
